This set of games will appeal to almost anyone that enjoyed older platform style games and especially fans of the series. Really, who hasn't played a Mega man game? There are unlockable features (which I'm sure can be done with cheats) and the games have adjustable skill levels & 3 or 5 lives per game (both of which are real handy at times!). Another big bonus is the save feature, you can quit any of the games at any time without having to write down a password and worry if it's going to work, even for megaman 1 which had no password system originally. The controls are also set up in such a way that in most of the games there is one button for turbo fire (no more button mashing!). A great, family friendly pick all around!
If you love the Megaman games, you've probably already known about this collection for a while. The only real question is how does the emulation of all the classic titles hold up on the Xbox? The truth is they emulate just fine. My only real complaints with the games is that the audio is off in some spots. Some sounds are much louder than others. The audio on the music sounds a little muffled too. This is disappointing considering the Megaman titles available on the Wii were emulated perfectly digitally, but I guess something is lost in transition to being written to a disc. However, what's most important is that all the fun is here. The graphics are crisp, if you have the correct cables you can potentially see the games in higher definition than they were on the old NES. Considering how much you'd have to plunk down just to play all these titles on the NES, SNES and Playstation, this is a very worthy investment that doesn't just have hours of fun, it's a lifetime of gaming achievements.Read full review
The opening menu of the Anniversary edition is a bit grainy, and you can tell that not much effort was put into it. Once the game that you choose begins (Megaman 1-8, or any of the 2 arcade games included), it is just like it was 20 years ago on NES. The quality was better than I expected. There was no glitches or pauses in the game, except for a few parts on Megaman 8. The added soundtracks are fun, and integrate well into the game. On Xbox 360, the transfer is smooth enough. You will need to be hooked up to the internet to update your Xbox AND the game. You do not need a subscription for this, just internet access on your box (either by wireless, or ethernet cord). For those of us who miss the old school Megaman games, this is a wonderful chance to get back to those old childhood times. Amazing!!!!Read full review
Megaman Anniversary Collection is a great collection of some of the best old school platforming. Megaman games are always fun, yet difficult, and this game's collection is no exception. The titles play the same as they always have and the music sounds awesome. The platforming is good and the triggers can be used to switch powers like in newer Megaman titles. Overall, definitely a good buy.
Son loves it because it has ten games in one. He can use the same controls for every game (except the tenth game, adds an uppercut shot). The games add scenes from the cartoons which adds background characters - nostalgic for husband. Son and husband can play together, which is a nice bonus. Our first copy of this game was accidentally broken (stepped on) so this is the second time we purchased it. It's worth it.
