This is one of the finest MGM flms of the 1940's. Director Vincent Minelli skillfully crafts a picture of family life which has become a classic of Americana for several generations of film watchers. Judy Garland (Minelli's future wife) stars as the out-spoken female of a close-knit family in turn of the century St. Louis. The ensemble cast is nothing short of remarkable. Venerable Harry Davenport as Grandpa. Leon Ames and Mary Astor as the parents. Tom Drake as Judy's love interest. And most of all the little scene stealer Margaret O'Brien as Tudy. The Whole family will want to watch this one again and again. The score includes many classics including "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas", "Clang, Clang, Clang Went The Trolley" and, "The Boy Next Door".
This is a WONDERFUL CLASSIC Judy Garland movie!! I've watched it over and over! Even if you don't prefer the "old movies", this is still a MUST SEE!!! Clean and no violence... Jana
