I went from a W3450 to this bad boy X5670 and for the price it is a massive upgrade. You can see a huge difference in performance. The computer definitely booted faster. Desktop was loaded before I even turned my monitor on. This upgraded a sever PC Dell precision T3500. Tho I'm using it as a gaming PC xeon performs surprisingly well!! If you got a LGA1366 socket motherboard, or computer laying around and wanna give it a cheap upgrade this is the best option!

Holy smokes!!!!!!!! This CPU not only breathes new life into an old x58 motherboard, you can actually catch up to i7 4770k performance (with a little overclocking). This 32nm 6core chip runs so much cooler than my 40nm quad core i7 920. The out of the box experience is undeniable. Its literally over 160% the performance using 70% the power. WOW But these chips are so cool and running on very low volts, its like they are made for overclocking. Leaving all the power saving features on, i could bump the clocks all the way up to 4.2ghz (4.4ghz turbo) with minimal voltage bump. The gigabyte X58 boards have dynamic voltage which keeps my CPU idle at .992 volts and ramps up to 1.28v when loaded. its completely cool, quiet, and stable. I really couldnt be more impressed with it. Of course it can overclock much higher, but this thing is running like its at stock speeds-overclocked 1.2ghz. That is 6cores/8 threads @ 4.2ghz with 4.4ghz turbo. Running very cool with Low volts, not even pushing it. I have been comparing my benchmarks and it will really blow some minds. Its faster than a 4770k in almost everything. It actually keeps up with ivy bridge 6 cores. This chip is really really fast especially when overclocked. It will bring the x58 platform up to 4790k levels. Of course, if your using an app that takes advantage of AVX2 the haswell will leave it sitting. But hardly nothing uses those extensions. I wouldnt say this chip is better than a 4770k but it will surely make the x58 platform relevant today. And i have been comparing lots of benchmarks, games, apps, and test. At 4.2ghz+, these 6 cores can best a 4770k on average. There are some cases that haswell just excels at and is faster, but there 6cores more than make up for it in others. It will surprise you.....it has surprised me. Make sure your motherboard will support it. Most socket 1366 motherboards will but you may have to do a bios update. The CPU may not be listed as supported because its not officially a consumer chip. If its not listed, you can google your motherboard and the either this chip or another x5650, x5660, x5680, etc and you should find someone using it or some information. Most likely though, if your motherboard supports an i7 980x or 990x---- it will support the xeon westmere. They are the same familyRead full review
Was looking to upgrade a 2010 Mac Pro from a quad core to a 6 core for better performance. Choices were X5670, X5680 and X5690. Comparing features and clock speeds, the price of the X5670 ($50) outweighed the slight performance increases of the 4x more expensive X5690. To me, for an economical upgrade, this is the sweet spot.

Great upgrade for old I7-920 cpu for Asus P6T (x58) motherboard. With very little effort I was able to easily overclock this replacement cpu from 2.93GHz to 3.6GHz. Now my computer is much faster with 6 cores instead of 4 cores.

Great product for it's current value. Easy to install, just replace your old CPU with the Xeon grade processor and enjoy more speed and processing power for your old computer.
