As an avid fan of Broadway and Broadway history, I was eager to obtain this DVD. It definitely has historic performances from both Mary Martin and Ethel Merman...the medley is the major standout. The running time on the DVD is very short (less than 30 minutes) and we're looking at 1950s black & white TV here. Merman's redition of "Alexander's Ragtime Band" is a real treat...Merman as most of us remember her. A piece called "The Fashion Show" by Mary Martin illustrates her comedic ability, but she doesn't sing in it at all! "A Vaudeville Pantomime" with both of the ladies is sort of cute, but doesn't involve them singing, but lip-syncing to an old 1925 recording. Then there's "The Medley." It's primarily for this that I'm pleased to add this DVD to my collection. Both stars are in top form and move smoothly through nearly 30 songs in the duet. I purchased this DVD at a reasonable cost on eBay. I wasn't about to pay the high cost of purchasing it new...remember it's only 27 minutes long! What one is getting here is a nice bit of Broadway and television history.Read full review

A marvellous opportunity to see a presentation which I had only heard on a 78 rpm recording before! Ethel Merman and Mary Martin at peak of their careers in a show which continues to command a place in American television history. It would be good to see the rest of the programme released at some point.
