Nice light Carbon tripod, a little bit tricky tilting the center column some times, goes horisontal but needs some convincing going back to vertical, but 2-3 seconds fiddeling and your'e good. I miss the hook under for added weights, there's a hook on the side but I'm used to the one under (maybe just me). Really stable, nice big DSLR, 300 zoom lens an TC no problem, even with center column at it's top position it's not to bad. I really love how low I can get. Greatest tripod I own, I will not buy a new one before I break this (and it can take a beating) Never owned a Gitzo so I can't compare but I guess Manfrotto is just nanometers behind.
After looking at reviews, I decided the carbon fiber was what I wanted. It is light, and sets up quickly. It is sturdy, and I've used the center horizontally, when shooting macro. The ability to shoot horizontally, was a big factor in my purchase of this model. It's a little tall when strapped to my backpack, but as long as I remove the ball head, it doesn't affect my ability to walk around.
Exactly as described, works great!
