I had an older version years ago so I bought as a replacement and it still lives up to the Manfrotto brand of quality it's a great studio or location tripod, definitely not something you want to haul on a hike though it's too big and heavy for that.

I'm using this tripod to hold a small telescope. This tripod is very heavy and stable. The up down crank for the middle riser works well and is solid. I read that someone complained about it being plastic. There are some plastic parts on it, but they look and feel like quality and are very solid. This tripod is great to setup quick because you just hold the controls, and the legs drop down. Beware, if you think you are getting the version that has that third set of legs that make it super tall, the USA version doesn't have those legs, so I was disappointed about that, but I probably would never use that set of legs, that's why I gave it 5 stars anyway. The rubber feet can rotate in, and the spike becomes exposed, which is most excellent. Although it's heavy for a tripod, it is exactly what I needed to keep my medium format camera system rock solid indoors in the studio and outdoors in blustery conditions. The automatic leg system is the best out there.
