If you haven't seen "Malice" yet, you have missed one of the best thrillers ever filmed. Great performances by an ensemble cast, surprises at several turns, complimented by an eerie/ethereal musical score, make this an unforgettable film that will stay with you for years. You will not fall asleep and you will remain sweaty-palmed til the very end. For people who have said that Nicole Kidman can't act, her characterization of the female lead is outstanding in depicting her relentlessness, selfishness, and the superlative way she manipulates those around her. This ranks right up there with "Body Heat", and should be part of your library.

MALICE is an interesting title for an entertaining mystery – thriller full of plot twists, and characters who are not what they first appear to be. Malice is generally a legal term having to do with a person’s intent to do harm or deliberately cause and even enjoy another’s suffering. Soon the audience is finding that there are all forms of malice lurking in the hearts of these characters. The film opens in what appears to be a peaceful and ideal small college town. The camera follows a young woman home from school and to a waiting killer. Who is the killer? Is it the mild mannered college president Andy Safian (Bill Pullman)? In another seeming unrelated plot line we meet the incredibly talented and enormously arrogant Dr. Jed Hill (Alex Baldwin); an old high school acquaintance of Andy’s. Despite the objections of Andy’s wife, Tracy (Nicole Kidman) Dr. Jed moves into the couples Victorian home as a tenant, a move which proves disastrous to the couple’s marriage and to Jed’s career. Andy is bewildered and hurt by the sudden devastation brought into his life. But he begins to seek answers when he learns that Tracy is not the perfect loving wife he had once believed. His search for answers leads him down a twisted trail until he meets someone who encourages him to “get into the game”. Two of the best parts in this film are cast with veteran actors Anne Bancroft, and George C. Scott, and look for a young Gwyneth Paltrow, and Tobin Bell of SAW, as well as Bebe Neuwirth as the small town police detective.Read full review
Mesmerizing! Good performances by many well-known actors. Alec Baldwin’s character’s response in deposition is iconic.
