This demo hammer is one of a few 1st Quality tools that Makita still makes in Japan. I own several tools from this "series", and all have stood up to continuous, extreme, professional service for many years with no down time. The HM1211B is a lot of demo hammer for a true, compact 20 pounds. Nothing else in its size and weight range can stay with it. IMO, it's too small for thick, poured in place walls, columns or foundations, or even large 4" slabs, and it's too big for sink decks or scraping tile to save. But with the right bits it will make short work of peeling up floor tile or tearing out a traditional shower pan, hollow block or brick walls, veneers, that sort of thing, and it will also dig and drive ground rods into any soil, short of hard pan. I use it often for small sections of 4" slab when I just don't want to deal with my 40 pounder, and it's especially nice on scaffolds, vs. larger hammers. While this will not replace larger or smaller demo hammers, it is the best demo hammer in this size and weight range. I got mine "refurbished", and it looked and functioned like new. Be extra sure to get the correct bit shank for this tool, and I recommend long bits for floor or ground work.Read full review

So far this tool has tore up my paved driveway and cut a hole through a block wall into the crawl space and is currently digging under my house in a narrow crawl space and makes digging in tight areas a very easy task. It will take a lot more abuse than I can take.
