Most of the items in this book are lovely. There are well photographed, large pictures. It contains information on beads, wire types, and findings used to put everything together. There are NOT a lot of step-by-step pictures. You will need (or to make) a wire wrapping jig (i.e. wigjig)to make them. If you have or buy a clear wigjig, there are patterns in the back you can lay the wigjig on and place the pegs over the spots, then follow the wiring diagram. If you use a jig that is not see-through, then you will have to follow the patterns by just looking at them. I have made some on my cribbage board but many are not compatible to cribbage board spacing. The curved end of the cribbage board is even usable on the patterns for the fancier more expensive wigjig. It helps to be conscious of your intended wire path before you begin. It is easier if you only put two pegs in at a time. That way the others are not in your way. I don't regret buying this book. I'm sure me and my cribbage board will get a lot of good use out of it.Read full review
Very detailed and I’m a beginner in this part of making jewelry with wire. Such beautiful pictures of the jewelry you can make and you can use those as references too to make your own:)
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
This is one of the better jewelry making books I have purchased. The directions are "intricate" and easily understood with accompanying pictures showing the details, so that even the beginner can understand "how to". The variety of projects and diversity makes one's imagination run with one's own ideas and creativity. I actually had fun making my own template with nails and making a wire centerpiece it was challenging, fun, and rewarding. I give this book 4 1/2 stars. Im very pleased with this purchase.
My son and I are just getting started in wirework so this book is very interesting. The entire book is beautifully illustrated and inspiring. I was very happy to see easily understandable instructions on jigs and jig patterns. I felt it was a book that my son (teenager) would be able to use to make gifts for his friends and family. There are many creative designs that one can expand on. It has definitely made me interested in learning MORE about wirework.
I received this book free with the purchase of another more advanced book, I plan on giving it to my sister who has just started in jewelry making, Its a great little book for covering wireworking basics and using a wirejig but for the advanced jewelry maker/wireworker it presents no use or challenges! But as I said to learn the basics-a nice little book to get you started out.
