I love Charlton Heston and had never seen this movie. It was not his best role, but not because of his acting ability. The story was not one I favored, but much of it was great acting.
It's the story of a Union officer who assembles a "dirty dozen" to avenge an Indian attack that wiped out a troop of U.S. cavalry. The interplay between Charlton Heston and Richard Harris results in predictable dialog and situations. I was unable to finish watching the movie. I always thought the big stars got to read the script before agreeing to make the movie! Did Heston and Harris accept this yawner?
