It's a good device in theory, and setup works more or less as it's described in the manual, but there's still a level of technical frustration around actually using the watch. When it works it's great. When it doesn't work it is frustrating. We are at about 50/50 with it. It's lightweight and durable, which are pluses. It's just not reliably connecting - which for us is a deal-breaker. We got it to remotely connect to RunKeeper on iOS, so that we could keep the phone in a waist pouch while running and have a simple start/stop mechanism for it without having to undo the waist band and pull out the phone while trying to keep running at the same time. Maybe you'd have better luck with Android, or a different model phone...but we are throwing in the towel.

It seems Magellan has dropped official support for this in some ways. You cannot get the Magellan Echo Connect app from any of the app stores anymore, but you can find it online if you search. You need this app if you want to change the layout of the watch or the settings.
