Warning: this game can take easily over 3 hours and almost always over 2. You essentially walk around, exploring the land and defeating orcs, dragons or even invading and conquering cities, alone or with an army of a few units you can recruit along the way. The game has an interesting combination of deck building mechanics in the form of a progression system and has quite a strategic depth. The rules, while may seem a lot at first glance, are comprehensive and "make sense". I would not recommend it as a casual game and I would suggest at least one player should be into games like this. Some of the strong points: - minimal setup time - many different game modes (co-op, solo, team vs team, competitive and not-so-competitive-yet-not-co-op) - huge replayability due to the random generation of the map and the variant rules - good start for gamers who want to explore less casual board games - reference cards for most things you can come across - there are many times during a scenario where you can easily pause the game and come back to it at some later time. Things you might want to consider: - if you don't like rule books longer than 10 pages, you might want to skip it - this is a game that requires time and thinking. - you will need a big table to play - only for up to 4 playersRead full review

Great game for solo, cooperative, or competitive play. Cards are made of a sturdy material and there are lots of different scenarios to play through that play out differently every time. One of my top board games and I would highly recommend it. It can be fairly complex to learn so not the best for a first time board gamer but once you get a hang of it, its an absolute blast!

This game has hit the table 3 times in 3 days. Component quality is very good, but the setup takes too long and is way too complicated for my taste. All the rules really take away from the game itself.

I got a hell of a deal on "Mage Knight" at a time when it's price was climbing up on Amazon, and despite being called "scratch and dent" it was brand new. The plastic shrink wrap had some scratches, nothing more. All pieces and cards accounted for. And it's a fantastic game!
