Well, its simple. I like Madden 07 in its current gen form. Therefore, I liked the next gen version of the game just as much. While it is missing a few features that I actually use (like a easy to use hot route option and defensive hot routes, a swim/rip button) everything else is pretty much the same with much much MUCH better graphics. Graphics don't make the game, gameplay does, so if you liked the gameplay of madden 07 for the PS2 or the Xbox, you should like this. I also love the fact that you can completely customize the controls to your own liking and not be stuck with the preconfigured settings (although every once and a while when using the run to daylight feature, the game will forget about your custom settings...rare but annoying). What i am not fond of is the awkward menu navigation. Its slow and choppy and overall, confusing. Also, I am not a fan of the ESPN radio guy announcing the game. Unlike alot of people, I like Madden's commentary, no matter how repetitive it was. The overall feel of the game is somewhat taken down a notch or two without the announce team to me. Last but not least, the inability to edit players attributes. While most of the ratings I can agree with, there are some players (namely rookies) who are extremely underrated in some catagories (take Norwood from Atlanta for example. All in all, I think it is a pretty good game, definately a huge upgrade over Madden 06 and I like it more than NCAA07 for the 360 (which is odd considering I always prefer NCAA games over the Madden game). If on a scale of 1-10 I would give this a solid 8.Read full review
Since I bought an XBOX 360 the Madden series has begun to improve. The Madden NFL 06 edition lacked many of the features that Madden NFL 07 now allows. The Madden NFL 07 edition now brings Superstar mode to the next-gen system and an ALL NEW Madden Gamer Level. The game has an even more in-depth franchise mode and many more mini-games which improved since last years game. However, the game still lacks important aspects that the current-gen versions allow. For example, you are still unable to edit the players uniforms and information. It also lacks the additional uniforms that NFL teams have. If you are playing as the Carolina Panthers, you are unavle to use their Alternate Blue Jerseys. This takes away from the realism in a bit brutal way. As they add more gaming features to the game they are forgeting about the small things that added character to Madden on the current-gen systems. For this gaming franchise to become a powerhouse on the next-gen platform, they need to focus on bringing the current-gen atmosphere to the next-gen level.Read full review
This game has modified the Superstar mode by making a Hall of Fame that you can get in! On My Superstar in Superstar mode, it shows your HOF progress throughout your career. In HOF on Superstar mode, there is the HOF and other Famers added on every year. It's seldom that you are a first-round draft pick. In the game, if your Superstar is on offense & starts, then you ONLY play as your Superstar on offense. On defense, you can make it CPU control or player control. For defense, it's the exact opposite. In 06, you play as the person with the ball, which I think is better. Franchise is just about the same as in 06.There is a Madden Gamer Level which tells you how much you play. Many achievements have to do with this. There is no Mini-Camp, but the mini games are still good. The mini games are the same as the Performance Institute on Superstar mode, but you do multiple drills, unlike 06, in which you only do 1 a week. The game also shows how far you have gotten in the game, but sometimes the Franchise one goes down. Play Now is pretty much the same as well. Some people may have a problem that Carolina has the best stats on Play Now. Graphics are better, controls are easy to understand, and gameplay is solid. I would buy this game unless you don't have Madden 06. If you don't have Madden 06, I would buy that first.Read full review
PROS: -Great Graphics -Improved Gameplay CONS: -Still lacking features on the Current Gen Systems -No other football options gamewise I must say it is gorgeous. The game definately has the look of an awesome football game on the 360, and plays a bit better than the 2006 version. The biggest thing I can say is that this game is still lacking the features found on the current generation systems (PS2, XBOX) and that has become expected of a football game, especially now that EA has exclusive NFL rights. The graphics justify the game purchase, but the gameplay and options feel that of a Madden 2002 or 2003 game, which is disapointing when you think of the power that the XBOX 360 has. You can tell that the game is building the framework to establish an excellent football game, as the franchise had to do when it first appeared on the PS2. You know the game will have the lost features by next year, when the Next Generation systems take full effect. This is worth playing and giving a look to if you only have an XBOX 360, but the current generation versions are more feature filled. This may not be a must own on the XBOX 360, but for any football fan that loves good visuals, this is a definate pick-up - this is the reason it received a 4 of 5 from this football fanatic reviewer.Read full review
I've been playing Madden football games since the early 1990's when it was on Sega Genesis. Every year the game has always improved and I have never, ever been disappointed with a Madden game. Now that it's on the XBOX 360 the graphics are just revolutionary. The difference between the Hall of Fame Edition and normal version isn't too great and it might not be worth the price difference in some people's opinions. Madden on the XBOX 360 for me is new and I'm slowly switching training myself on the controls since I used to play PS2. I have noticed that this year there are alot of changes to the gameplay though. Like kicking, it takes time to get used to it but it's what continues to make the game challenging. So, if your a Madden fan, go ahead and get yourself a copy of this one, it's fun and challenging in new ways, Hope I Helped, Justin.Read full review
