FIrst heard the song "Fade Into You" in 1993, fell in love with Hope Sandoval's lead vocal...read about the album and just had to get it, finally did years later. Highly recommended, get one now!

Really impressive, arty-type music that blends well from song to song throughout the cd. I don't know why this cd wasn't more popular in it's day. I heard 'Fade Into You' on a music channel and wanted the cd. Bluesy lyrics and strummed guitar licks begin to sound the same, but it does sound good. One of those cd's you want to hear what plays next. I say it is a good listen and would buy it again. Great sound.
I love Mazzy Star. Hope Sandoval has such a haunting voice, very sultry. Three songs really sand out, Fade Into You is breathtaking, Bells Ring is awesome, and Five String Serenade is a true masterpiece. So Tonight That I Might See is so delicate and at the same time it's so intricate. Over all the album is 4 stars. I'm glad that I bought the album.
Like the original songs, music, and vocals. Use of an echo on the vocals detracts. I saw them live and without the echo; live was better.

So Tonight is Mazzy Star's weakest effort but the songs are still good and if you like their other music you should like this. It's hard to say exactly what these songs lack...I guess they just don't have enough of the melancholy atmosphere and sense of longing (for who knows what) that their other albums have. For those looking to discover Mazzy Star this is probably not the best place to start. 4 Stars.
