This DVD deals with the basic principles of construction for Cathedrals during the early centuries of Christianity and how this method evolved into the Gothic styles of Chartes and Notre Dame Cathedrals. You are then taken to see the construction of the National Cathedral in Washington, DC from the laying of the cornerstone by Teddy Roosevelt in 1907 to its completion and dedication by George Bush in 1991. You see how the European Cathedrals influenced the DC Cathedral, and how it was able to be constructed larger and higher than its models. It is a facinating and informative DVD for anyone- like myself- who has a superficial knowledge of, or one who knows nothing about, this style of architecture. I believe, once you've seen it; ya'll want to own it.
