If you are a fan of the Mass Effect universe, I highly recommend this book.It enriches the ME mythos while really building the character of Captain David Anderson and other prominent ME figures. The story is intriguing, though I feel an extra chapter or two towards the end would have prevented the conclusion from feeling forced. That is my only real compliant in an otherwise great tale crafted by Karpyshyn. If nothing else this book is a great time-passer until Mass Effect 3 is released.
IF YOUR GOING TO BUY THE GAME WHEN IT COMES OUT THEN YOU SHOULD DEFINITLY READ THIS BOOK. THE STORY WAS REALLY ENTERTAINING AND I LIKED THE DESCRIPITONS OF THE DIFFERENT SPECIES. THIS BOOK HAS GIVEN ME A PREVIEW OF WHAT THE GAME WILL BE LIKE BUT IT WAS ALSO FUN TO READ AT THE SAME TIME. ITS COMPARABLE TO THE HALO NOVELS BY ERIC NYLUND SO THEY'RE WORTH YOUR TIME. I THINK THAT THIS BOOK WILL HELP ME ENJOY THE GAME MORE WHEN ITS RELEASED BECAUSE NOW I UNDERSTAND THE PLOT A LITTLE MORE.
I would recomend this book for the fans of the game MASS EFFECT. For those who never played the game, I think they will be a little lost in the book. The book is a prequel and the story has nothing to do with the game, but the desciptions of races, cultures, characters and other stuff are very week to make you feel immerse in this universe.
I love it

Great book. Provides a lot of background to the Mass Effect franchise. Written by one of the writers for the video games, so there are no inconsistencies in the book. I recommend this to every Mass Effect fan!
