Rory Culkin (The Night Listener, Chasing 3000 and more) stars as a 15 year old bummed out teen who hates his life and his parents but is in love with his next door neighbor Adrianna (played by Emma Roberts). Culkin is joined in this movie by his real life brother Kieran Culkin who is in the army and about to be deployed to the Faulkin Islands. Culkins father (Alex Baldwin) is having an affair with the neighbors wife and mother of the girl he loves. His mother is depressed and hates her life, and Timothy Hutton plays the neighbor who has Lyme disease. The cast includes: Alec Baldwin, Emma Roberts, Rory Culkin. Jill Hennessy, Kieran Culkin, Timothy Hutton and Cynthia Nixon. Directed by: Derick Martini Produced by: Alec Baldwin and Martin Scorsese Written by: Derick Martini and Steven Martini With plenty of twists and turns the movie follows a fairly decent path that is somewhat predictable but is still entertaining. If you are into these type of Independent films than you will want to see this one as the characters all handle their roles well and the story is easy to follow. There is plenty of foul language and there are some suggestive scenes and sexual acts but no nudity so keep that in mind if you watch this one. Rated 4 of 5 and recommended.Read full review
My wife and I watched this movie because we like some of the stars in it. Sometimes we agree on movies, sometimes we don't. This one we did agree on, AWFUL! She quit half way through, I wasted my time and finished it. How this movie got so many great reviews, violently funny, wonderful, sends off sparks etc., by critics and newspapers is baffling. It was not funny anywhere, I never even chuckled or smiled, just plain boring! It would be a good movie if you needed some sleep. Probably the worst movie I have ever watched in my 45+ years, on the same level as Gigli.

It took time for me to actually watch/make sure the DVD worked but I can confirm the DVD did work but wasn't exactly what I ordered. Half way through I noticed that every swear word was cut out and there was a TV14 rating symbol popping up in the corner of the screen. I then checked the DVD case and it was in fact the TV edited version. I then checked my order and it was supposed to be the R rated version. I have no interest in placing a return on a $4 DVD. I will just buy another copy and hopefully get what I ordered.

i bought the dvd because i, in fact, have lyme disease. i found the movie somewhat hard to follow as is often the case with many movies. however, a second viewing is required to pick up the many well-placed but subtle details that make the movie more enjoyable, and relevant, i might add. overall, it was a pleasure to watch and would definitely suggest it for anyone who has or knows someone with lyme disease. although certainly not the definitive end-all and be-all of the lyme disease issue, it certainly gives this insidious malady much needed exposure in a relatively realistic way and intertwines it into an enjoyable watch. jay
A film that shows dysfunction within suburban families. With terrific performances, especially from Rory Culkin, Lymelife has a subject matter that is familiar, but done so effectively, realistically, and feels incredibly down to earth.
