Josh Hartnett and Bruce Willis star in Lucky Number Slevin, a cinematically stylish crime thriller with so many twists, you'll feel like sweet swizzle candy by the time it's all over. Josh's character, Slevin, is continually mistaken for his friend, Nick. The mob is after him, the cops are after him, at every turn there is someone out to get this guy 'Nick'. Inter-mixed within the great action sequences, Slevin finds time to develop a romance with Lindsey, smartly played by Lucy Liu. I recommend this movie for its twists & turns, you won't be able to figure it out. All through the odd pacing of the movie, I kept asking the movie screen "why did he do that?" over & over again, but hubby didn't seem phased by the sequence of flashbacks and flashforwards. I'm not sure if it's a gender-based difference or not. The movie can be more than a little violent at times, I wouldn't recommend this movie for sensitive viewers. This movie will be fun for avid movie buffs though, as Director Paul McGuigan subtley pays homage to several scenes and characters from movie classics. If you like crime thrillers and movies that you can't figure out in advance, you'll enjoy Lucky Number Slevin. We have the wide-screen edition of the DVD and it makes a difference in this film. Most enjoyable, if you like things a little quirky.Read full review
An identity mix-up places an innocent man in the middle of a mob war in this cynical in mood crime thriller. While checking out his missing friend Nick s apartment, Slevin (Josh Hartnett) is mistaken for Nick by thugs. Just how much trouble is Nick really in! Slevin finds out when he is forced to participate in a high profile murder for two powerful crime bosses-which are directly opposed to each other (Ben Kingsley and Morgan Freeman). Bruce Willis also stars as a behind the scene hit man that is leading Slevin towards a very surprising ending to the movie. You must really pay attention to this movie to really gain the utmost as it twists and turns in every direction. A good movie for a night entertainment and very good acting in various parts by all the stars.
This is my kind of movie . Action right from the get go . Plus it has one of my favorite actors of all time in it. Bruce Willis. Bruce ( Mr. Goodcat), starts out telling the story to some stranger in the bus station .He starts from telling him about a horse ,bets, bookies and people getting killed.I'll not give all the parts of the story. Then we Meet Slevin ( Josh Hartnett) , He is the dude who is in the wrong place at the wrong time !He plays his role well He ends up in a feud between two mob bosses. Which are played by Morgan Freeman (THE BOSS) and Ben Kingsley ( The Rabbi). They at one time used to be partners.but now are enemys that live directly in front of each other in different buildings and never leave their buildings for fear of their lives. Well Slevin is mistaken for his friend , who owes these dudes some money it seems. and it all goes down hill from there. Only good thing is that he meets his friends next door neighbor played by (Lucy Liu). We find out later she is a coroner. Well he becomes smitten with her. He is also dealing with all the Mob boss stuff. Becasue his friend owes THe Boss $960000 ,The Boss wants him to Kill the Rabbi's Gay son for repayment of the money. The Boss thinks that the Rabbi killed his son a few days before. Ohh what a tangled web we weave. This movie also shows that Our past can indeed come back to haunt us . It kept me on the edge of my seat ! waiting and wondering what was going to happen next. Twists and turns and killing and blood. So many different doors open and shut. It is one of the best movies I have seen ALL YEAR. I highly recommend you buy this movie and watch it . I enjoyed this movie to the max Found no fault in it at all. I give it a Excellent Rating ! I am sure you will too! Thanks for reading my review GinaRead full review
This is an entertaining movie. We have always liked to watch MORGAN FREEMAN movies where he played an action role.

Not to often do I get to watch a movie that will keep me guessing throughout the whole movie. Most people can somewhat figure out the ending of a movie half way through it. As I started to watch this movie, it kept me guessing throughout. I loved how at the begining you thought that Josh Hartnets character was just some very unlucky fool. As the movie progresses, his character starts to have a moment of good luck when he gets to hook up with a very attractive neighbor, but then he starts to get sucked back into his misfortune of mistaken identity. What I especially loved about the movie was the last little bit, when Josh and Bruce Willis get to reveal the truth about who they really are. It is that moment when they are telling their story, that the scenes at the begining of the movie start to make sense. I would highly recommend that any one who has not seen this movie, go see it immediately. It is definately worth the price of a movie rental.Read full review
