This book is a liar. The only "low-carb" about this is the lie. This author poses this "plan" as a low-carb diet because she says you don't have to count many carbs since she's deemed them to be "good" carbs. Other "carbs" are in truth starches and starchy vegetables, which she teaches to ignore the actual carbohydrates in the item and keep count of what she calls a "carb choice." In her plan you have an allowance of "carb choices" every day. In reality this is another variation of a low-calorie, low-fat, low-sugar, but otherwise HIGH CARBOHYDRATE diet plan. It's misleading and false. Regardless of how appropriate this plan might be for those active people who succeed on this type plan, the title is misleading and deceptive and the "plan" outline indeed assumes you are a "Dummy." She is a professor in Texas, but in truth works for the ADA and is supporting their government ordained dietetic pyramid (she states so in the introduction and in a later chapter endorsing links to government resources). Save your money and buy a book from an upfront honest author.Read full review
