Even in 2015, the HP EliteBook 8560w is a powerhouse. Fully the match to most peoples desktops. The Model I purchased came with a i7-2860qm (4core8thread)and a Quadro 2000m. The Quad Core models have four ram slots, so it's fairly inexpensive to fill 8 or 16gb of ram into this mobile workstation. With the optional HDD Caddy, you can swap out the slim optical drive for a 2nd HDD or SDD, with Raid-0 and -1 capabilities. Crisp Dreamcolor monitor, considered the best in the industry. Only in size does a MacBook Pro win,the HP 8560w being a bit chubby. In every other class the HP 8560w Elitebook Mobile Workstation crushes the Mac. Best Build Quality in the Industry, built to MIL-STD-810 military standards for ruggedness.
I found a while back that used/refurbished business class laptops have a lot going for them in durability and features at a great price. Add to that many companies now buy laptops for their employees that never make it out of the office docking station. They just want to keep the support simple and keep the proliferation of different models to a minimum. I personally saw that in my last job with a national insurance company. Which means many of these laptops are almost pristine in physical condition. This Elitebook (8560W) has a second generation I7 with 8g RAM which makes it a very good value for the price (25% of original). I bought an another Elitebook with a dual core, earlier this year for my son and have been totally satisfied with its performance and durability. As long as consumer laptops continue to be made like cell phones (obsolete within 2 years), I will continue to look at the offlease business class laptops like these.Read full review
This is a powerful laptop with a fast processor and very good graphics card. There is plenty room for additional memory. The laptop is heavy and not as portable as some smaller units but for use around the home or office, it is an excellent choice.

I am a mechanical engineer and I purchased this to run a memory, cpu, and graphics intensive program Comsol Multiphysics. This quad core CPU and M/B allows up to 32 GB of DDR3, and it includes Quadro 2000m graphics with 2 GB of DDR3. It came loaded with 8 GB (2 GB per slot x 4 slots). I can upgrade to 16 Gb for a little under $200 or 32 GB for a little over $300. Analytical programs run quicker with more built-in RAM. When structural FEA and CFM were first introduced, they were best handled on supercomputers and took weeks to months to solve. I can solve one of those in minutes to hours. I highly recommend this notebook computer for engineers who need horsepower on the go.
