i bought these speakers because i was having a party while my mom was out of town. i was tired of using the TV speakers and needed more of a bang! and boy do these deliver!! Likes: --Excellent sound --nice design --very affordable Dislikes: --Lack of optical audio --uses ONLY 6-channel direct analog, no digital whatsoever. --WIRES WIRES WIRES! Bottom line: for the price, this is a GREAT set of speakers that deliver crisp sound and is great for gaming/house parties, etc. but if you're looking for options and customizability, spend a little more and get one with more inputs such as optical/coaxial and other bells and whistles. P.S. - You'll need the Logitech Gaming adaptor to be able to use these speakers with your iPod/MP3 player.
These speakers are not stereo monitors but they are very good desktop speakers for playing music, games and the occasional movie. You're not going to hear orchestral sound you have never heard before on your prize CDs or mp3s; but if you play hip-hop, pop or rock there aren't any undiscovered sounds anyway and these guys might just blow you away considering their price point. These speakers offer fairly accurate, distortion free fidelity even at higher (for your desktop) volume levels. The highs aren't muffled, the base is strong and the midrange is actually pleasing. The overall effect is smooth, rich, moderately bright music that has depth and dimension packaged in a stylish dual cone configuration. Not a bad trick for under a hundred bucks. My only complaint is that the wiring options are a little limited. The power button, volume nob and headphone jack are built into the case for the right speaker. The connecting cable between speaker and the Sub is a little short as is the cable for connecting to your soundcard's output jacks thus definitely limiting the placement of the Sub. That being said, if you want a set of desktop monitors to critically listen to multidimensional orchestral music go out and pay the $400 (each) and up monitors will cost you. This set will not replace a moderately priced home entertainment system. If, on the other hand, you want to listen to some music while you work, or play some games, or watch a movie (or bother your partner in the next office through closed doors with the surprisingly robust volume this set is capable of)and decent sound is enough; than get these speakers.Read full review
I purchased the speakers for my home office. Used for music and/or movie sound. The speakers provide a nice sound with average volume. I feel that the volume should be able to produce a much high level of sound than it does (better than average, but NOT great). Make sure your computer supports 5.1 or higher surround sound connections or you will NOT get the quality you expect from these speakers. Their should be three (3) connections on your computer used for speaker connection for these speakers to work properly.
The Logitech X-530 is a pretty decent budget surround sound speaker set. The satellites put out a fairly full-bodied sound, with decent resolution and treble response (considering the lack of tweeters). Midrange leans on the warm side but does not come off unnatural or nasally. The X-530's biggest weakness is the bass - the subwoofer has the tendency to be boomy and lacks punch and definition. It's somewhat of a nitpick for a surround sound set that retailed for less than $100 and can easily be found for around $60, but if you can find its successor the X-540, then go for that instead (the bass issue is much improved in the X-540).

Got this X-530 set used after not being impressed with the latest 5.1 sets from Logitech. Sound awesome! Good overall response range, although i did boost the highs a little to get it to my liking. Sub is nice and deep overall, although it does respond best between 75 and 114 Hz. Love the easy-to-extend 3.5mm, DB9, and RCA connectors. Volume is still smooth with no crackles.
