I'm an IT professional and after long stretches at work conventional mice caused intense wrist pain. I started using this mouse about 15 years ago and when I realized the one I had might eventually break, I bought another one...... I actually bought two others -- both from ebay --. I've had problems with wireless mice dying and this one has never let me down. I can't recommend it hightly enough! Best damn purchase I've ever made in my life. I've tried other track ball mice and they aren't as sturdy or as comfortable as this one. I wish logitech would start making these again.
it took a family of four over ten years before the left clicker microswitch started doing double taps. rather than flop the switches, we bought another used as we all love the ergonomics of the design. the pattern on the ball is detected by the optical sensor so no tiny wheels to clean, just polish the ball occasionally. and having the little spinner wheel for scrolling is essential. it allows you to leave the cursor parked if need be. the freedom from having a cable lets you place the unit anywhere while you browse. it uses one aaa battery that lasts about a years worth of constant use.
I used the Logitech TrakMan Wheel wired trackball longer than any other input device for my computer. One day, it gave out. By then you couldn't find the wired version anymore so I opted for the 570 wireless trackball. I have used it for about 4 years, but never found it to be as easy to use as the TrackMan Wheel. It would stick occasionally, sometimes it would pick up interference from other sources and the battery does actually wear out at some point. When the opportunity to buy a TrackMan Wheel became available, I bought one and have been happy ever since. Sure, the software that ships with it is for Windows 95, but the new drivers and software from Logitech work with it perfectly. You can see from the prices that are being listed now, that this is the best trackball Logitech has ever made. If they were smart, they would reintroduce it again. There are a lot of people who would jump at the idea of going back in time to the day when the trackball was the smoothest and most accurate input device they ever had (or will have).Read full review

My last one of this model lasted 20 years of constant use. No over-use injuries! Perfect control. I love it. When it died, I tried to replace it in Australia - must have bought 8 or 9 new mouse. None of them any good. Finally found this in USA. Brilliant!!! Thank you Logitech for not killing the design.

This trackball mouse is the best so far. Easy on your wrist...in fact you don't need to move your arm or wrist at all, just your thumb's doing all the work..
