Programmable remotes have come a long, long way. Used to be, you'd have to punch in a code on the remote, start pressing the power button, and hope to God that after doing that many, many times the TV would finally react. Not so with this remote - everything is programmable on the computer. For my TV (an Emerson), I had to put in some additional steps to get it to set the right input, but that is a limitation of the television - and I was very pleased to see how easy it was to work around. This remote is very flexible to match your setup.

The 650 works well. Only problem so far is battery life with the two AA's. I put fresh batteries in when I got it and the batteries needed replacing after 3-4 weeks. My old 610 would go for 3-4 months on its four AAA's. Otherwise a great remote for the money.

Been using these remotes for 6- 8 years. The web site still supports remote programming, but I don't know if new product codes are still being added, and if so to what extent the code additions are being maintained. Make sure you have or get the USB cable and the MyHarmony software to program your remote - but first check to see if you can create a user account. I read somewhere that they were going to support existing users, but might not allow new ones.
