I bought this based on cost. All I was looking for was a functioning webcam for Windows 8. This cost less than my previous low end cam, but had fewer extra features. You get what you pay for here. The resolution is better than Microsoft Lifecam. This was bought in perfect condition, but not in the original packaging. It works with Windows 8, where the Lifecam didn't. You get to use this for motion detection, that I have not tried. You can do video and pictures. The claw/clamp is not what I am used to, but likely will hold the cam in all kinds of ways. It has the built in microphone, but I have not tested the quality. This was the cheapest, that I was sure would work with Windows 8.
One might think why will someone needed a webcam when everysingle computer now comes with one. Well, Im working in a little photobooth project and I couldnt use the webcam from my laptop. So I began with the search for a good quality webcam. I first found ones very cheap and nice, but I began to think about the quality of the lens, and the compatibility with my OS, so I decided that I needed a known brand. Theres were I found this webcam. Besides that it isint and HD cam, it has pretty good image, even better that the one in my computer. So Im very happy, and I didnt pay that much for it.
I recently began an online class and had need of a camera. I purchased the C300 as an inexpensive add on. It has pleasantly surprised me with the its ease of use and the clarity of the pictures it produces. I highly recommend this unit for anyone needing this type of system. Since this is my first journey into this aspect of computing I have no reference to compare it with.
