There are very few missteps in this award-winning drama. Performances are honest without being forced. The biggest surprise - and the best - is a rare dramatic performance by Bonnie Hunt, who's known more for comedy. Her moving portrayal of the mother looking for the son she gave up for adoption as a teenager, and the roadblocks she encounters in her search makes you wonder why she doesn't get more dramatic roles.

I liked how it showed how random and up to chance it sometimes is in life, to meet someone who will become a boyfriend and love interest. Especially among gay people, in a society where many still feel it is ok to condemn gays, it is often difficult to find a special person to love. This movie shows how it can happen suddenly when you dont expect it. Sad ending, but the guys mom realizes its better to accept your gay son, even when her religion says not to, than to loose your son completely.
Thoughful story of how decisions made early in life shape our journeys. Clearly shows the impact of trying to bury past problems. Three different people discover how their current situations are tied to their past and slowly find forgiveness and hope. Well acted and well directed. A tender story that will cause most viewers to reflect back on their lives and someone they need to reconcile with. Adult themes and language.
I enjoyed the movie, I was confused at times. At fist I wasn't sure which family Mark belonged. Mark didn't show any signs of being ill and all of a sudden he's dead. also expected see the sea turttles hatch and make it to the. Mark's mother said he saved them, but the sand looked the same as before. I also thougt it was difficult to follow. I think I'll have to watch it again...To see if it'll be better second time around.
