I recently bought an extra copy of Lewis & Clark Among The Indians by James Ronda for a friend, who is a fan of the period and a western history buff. I found this book to be a great supplement to the Journals of Lewis & Clark, and other volumes covering the fur trade and the period of exploration of the American West. This well-written and comprehensive work covers the various tribes that L&C encountered on their route, and details many interesting facts of the native people of the west. I particularly liked that it resourced the journals of other members of the Corps of Discovery, offering a broader view of the journey of Lewis and Clark and their interactions with Native Americans.
