Let me start off by saying I am buying J. Love's albums in reverse. For years, I've appriciated her Barenaked album. I purchased her self-titled one at the same time. I figured as I got further back, the quality of music wouldn't be as strong. I picked this album strictly because I do appriciate her music and wish she's release music more often. I can say that this album is not comparable to her most recent ones, but that doesn't make it bad. It doesn't really make it that good either. While her more recent albums lean towards soulful acoustic and R-N-B flavors, this one is more straight pop. My favorite song on this album are "The Difference Between Us." To be painfully honest, the production is the weakest part of the album. The production is just dated, underdone, and at times, a bit cheesy. Jennifer's voice is never the problem. She's sugary sweet and you can tell that she loves singing. Good effort for the times. If you are intested in Jennifer Love Hewitt's music, check Barenaked and her self-titled album. On a side note, even J. Love has joked about the title of this album, saying how the record company chose it.Read full review
What do you do when you have a good singer, one who can jump into the music with both feet, and who can even make a rope feel like dancing? If it is the music industry, you pile on "production values" and cover up the unique, what makes the singer stand out-- and you get a safe, but lessor product. This was safer. You can pick up acoustic tracks on eBay regularly, and JLH stands out in those tracks, and the Love Songs early release is available on eBay, too-- remember, this is a world wide marketplace. If this is a safe silver medal, imagine what it would have been like if she went for the gold. .
In her second CD, Jennifer Love Hewitt is on a roll. Her first CD "Love Songs" was only released in Japan so I don't know how good it is. But this CD is her first US release and she doesn't disapoint. She has a voice that is sweet and sexy at the same time. She has such a range that alot of other singers wish that they had. "Let's Go Bang" is actually a dance so don't think anything bad about J Lov. Give this CD a listen, I don't think you will be disapointed with it. I know I'm not.
Call me what you will, but I instantly fell in love with Jennifer Love Hewitt's songs. She has a surprisingly sweet ballad voice, and some good pop styling. disappointed that she hasn't pursued more of a music career. Standouts include 'Couldn't Find another Man', 'You Make Me Smile', and a nice remake of Bread's 'Baby I'm A Want You'.
Fantasic cd, the price is very good. I enjoy it and just think its a great cd to listin to. Also it's a cd that yuu can just sit back and enjoy listining to anyday.
