This disc is Pearl Jam performing two covers. I'm not really familiar with the original versions of the songs, though I've been told 'Last Kiss' had heavy radio-play. I don't know what I was doing then...probably watching 'Sesame Street'. The liner notes on the cover says that 'Ed found a 45' at the Fremont Antique Mall'. Cool. So, I can't really compare the original to the cover, but I really like 'Last Kiss'. It does have an AM radio/70's kind of feel to it. I like when all the other instruments stop, and only the drums play. Very cool. 'Soldier Of Love' is a live recording. Excellent. The song also has an aged feel to it, but Pearl Jam has given it an update. I suggest you get this disc. Really.
Pearl Jam changed the words a little, but they came as close to the original as any one could have.

Noboby has ever sung "Last Kiss" like Eddie Vedder. If you're a Pearl Jam fan and you like the ballads such as "Black." You will love "Last Kiss"
I love the song "Last Kiss". I had never heard of the 2nd song, "Soldier of Love" until I got the CD, but it's also a very good song.
