I've seen a lot of bad reviews of this game and I really think that is unwarranted. Even though its a first person shooter, like Halo 2, Half-Life, Far Cry, etc; you shouldn't compare it to those games. This game's quality shouldn't be judged on action; it is a slower paced game, but the low background music, lack of other characters, and visual style of lifelessness are done on purpose to add atmosphere. Turn down the lights, turn up the volume and enjoy this game. It will scare you. The lack of speed and lack of ammo adds to the dread; you can't necessarily mindlessly blast through mobs of zombies like in some action games. Sometimes running is the best option. This game could have been better, that's true. But for what it is, it's really the only type of game in this genre of this style. My only complaints with the game are this: 1) Very linear at times. I wish you could have more options as far as going to different places at different times (i.e. You need ammo so you choose to go to the gun store, etc.) 2) Falling from the ceiling? There are times especially in the sewer, when zombies fall from the ceiling. It can be annoying but does make you wonder when something will pop out and keep you on your toes. 3) Foretelling loading. Many times when there is a zombie added to the area around you, the game stutters for a millisecond, but it is enough to warn you of the upcoming enemy...which takes away some of the suspense. But considering it's a budget title, and the few technical flaws, it creates a lot of atmosphere and in a lot of ways is better than the movies that it is based upon. And most of all, it's fun.Read full review
I've been trying to get this game at a reasonable price for sometime. When I finally got it the warm up was just as I hoped. I love Zombie movies and games. I found this one a little difficult to play. Weapons are hard to find and really ineffective. I'll admit I'm not a hard core gamer, but I can barley reach the 2nd stage and then I gotta walk blindly through a cornfield. If this is my farm I'm on why don't I have a map. Why can't I use any house hold Items as weapons. I will say that it is scary as hell, and kept me on the edge of my chair.
The basis is almost like the movie- if you haven't seen it then watch it, the movie is way better than the game. Except you are some crazy white guy who lives on a farm and have to find your way out of your farm by finding weapons and shooting zombies, eventually you make your way to the city and while killing the whole time you find people to help and have to make it to Fiddlers Green by any means, lots of sewer walking. One level is a machine gun on the back of a jeep you have to kill all zombies who are trying to get in the city which is supposed to be the safe zone. Lots of different levels. It takes some time to feel comfortable walking and aiming, which is just like most games. The first few levels are decent and in some parts not hard... but time consuming, you'll be getting close to the end and then bam! you have to start over. I was disapointed when it was over it could have been way longer to beat. I payed about $30.00 american and I feel it should be about $10.00. If you get a good price I reccomend playing it if you like to shoot things. I wouldn't pay any more than $15.00 with shipping.Read full review
Land of the Dead Road to Fiddlers Green is a great first person shooter! This game is great not only because it has zombies in it but the creators of the game made the gameplay very realistic and sometimes scary to play. Also the musical score to the game definitely added anxiety to the gameplay! In the game you have a good variety of weapons to use against the zombies, plus you have melee weapons if you run out of ammo for your guns. Nothing is better than after a hard days work, coming home playing this game and slamming an axe into a zombies rotting head. Tell you the truth there isn't anything I disliked about the game. I bought this game because I'm a huge Zombie and George Romero fan to say the least. If you are like me and love first person shooters, and zombies to kill I defenitely suggest it!Read full review
Not completely awful... but awfully close. Bugs everywhere. Aiming is way off. Point blank range and you fire 5 misses, then re-load and take his head off 1st shot aiming the same. Next zombie 1st shot, next 5. And could I get some friggin' ammo please!!! It's a game your not paying for it!!! There was one level I missed maybe 2 shots and still had to use a shovel for half of it. Get stuck moving on corners constantly. Fire 1 round out of your gun, he still reloads the max it holds. You try to punch a zombie 3-4 times and miss moving backwards... he leashes out and tags you. I miss moving back, he connects?!?! Moving the guy gets he winded very easy and you have to wait for him to catch his breath. I smoke a pack a day for 25 yrs. and could run circle around this bum! Runs maybe 10 steps and gets winded. One of the worst games I've seen on an XBOX. Huge zombie, horror and FPS fan, but this game is BAD! How is it selling for so much on EBAY... I'll never know. I quit playing it, it was so bad. Gave up so frustrated.Read full review
