I bought this because I've been hearing about it all my life and have never even read the sexy parts! When it was the subject of a Jeopardy answer two weeks in a row I finally decided I had to have it. Although the sexy parts, I'm sure, were shocking in their day we see worse than this daily on television. I wish I had read it when I was a teenager; some of the things that happened to me in my early twenties wouldn't have been so inexplicable to me and I wouldn't have felt so alone. It's about much more than sex, though, or even the relationship between Lady Chatterley and Mellors. It's far more about class differences and changes in England and, in fact, throughout the world. Lawrence was bold enough to say what everyone else was thinking and would not admit; therein lies the shock.
