Wonderful movie. My previous one got scratched, so I bought this one. Great acting. The role of using pigeons as messengers was well done, except for one error as a pigeon fancier. Homing pigeons from England would fly back to England...not to another place....i.e. headquarters of the Army in France. Just a small technical issue. But otherwise, very engaging movie with great character development and acting.

Excellent movie. Some of the worst camera work I have ever seen. I felt I was trying to backup because the camera was so close to the actors. It was really apparent during the action sequences. American involvement in WWI was short (9 months) and to think that 3 Medals of Honor came from this one short engagement reflects such great honor on the American Army, it chokes me up with pride. Ricky Schroder was absolutely excellent. The leadership his character showed was mind blowing. His statement to General Alexander, that the General would not see him or is men alive again and then press the battle as hard as he did was great. How many people would lead men in to a battle like he did thinking it was a suicide mission. The Texan Lt. that was captured, telling the German Officer that his men were New York Gangsters and would never surrender, was priceless. I loved it. I had seen parts of the movie on TV before I bought it and wanted to see the whole thing. A very good buy.Read full review
Great movie. Ricky Schroder did a great job in his role. Weren;t an well know actors in it but they were all great in their roles too. Based on a true story after watching it you wonder how they survived. But they all hung together and fought till the end.

The Lost Battalion starring Rick Schroder is one of the finest WWI movies I've ever seen. Schroder played a great role in Lonesome Dove, but Schroder's role in The Lost Battalion is the finest in my opinion. Schroder is a fantastic actor!

This is a GREAT World War 1 movie. Lots of action that takes place in the trenches and in the attack on the Argonne Forest in late 1918. There are really no dull moments here. All of the movie is basically composed of the American attack to gain a stratigic point in the Forest and the German attempts to dislodge the battalion after it succeeds. The battalion accomplishes its mission but is left by itself as the rest of the Division falls back in retreat. Rick Schroader is GREAT as Major Whittlesea, the commander of the battalion and is supported by several other good performances on both the American side and German, as it also gives the insight into the German Commands committment to drive the American force from the center of the German line. Really a nicely photographed movie-orginally shown on the A & E network. Well worth the full price you would pay in a Video store-and if you get it on ebay for less-certainly worth the price. Recommended for War Movie lovers especially.Read full review
