We all remember the LG Rumor, now Sprint/Nextel has released the LG Rumor 2. Let's review it. The Good: If you were a fan of the LG Rumor than switching to the Rumor 2 should be a nice experience. Not much has changed between the two models. The appearance of the phone is one of the difference. It now comes in 2 colors black and blue. I personally like the Blue. The phone comes with 2 back plates which are interchangeable. One which is a plain solid color the other one with a design on the back. It still features the bluetooth and 1.3 megapixel camera which seems to take much sharper pictures from the original Rumor. The main difference that many Rumor users will notice is the addition of a row of numbers on the QWERTY keypad and a new layout of some keys. The redesign on the keypad makes it much easier to type, but does take a little getting used to especially if you just switched from the original. It only took me about 1 week to get used to the keyboard. The Bad: The big disappointment on the Rumor 2 is the lack of video recording. It was nice to be able to record video on the Rumor, but with the Rumor 2 there is no more video function on the camera. I guess it can be seen as a good or bad thing, the Rumor's video function was very basic and poor. If you are looking for a slider type phone with video the Samsung Rant is much better and actually takes pretty good video for a phone. The other thing that I have noticed is the weaker speak on the phone. It seems that with the Rumor the speaker was actually pretty loud, but with the Rumor 2 it seems to have a weaker speaker. The phone actually feels a little more flimsy than its predecessor. This phone is not a 3g, so the internet is a little slow, but if you wanted an internet phone then a smartphone/pda would be the way to go anyways, this phone is for hardcore texters, not someone who needs a computer. Conclusion: Overall the Rumor 2's pros far weighs its cons. As long as you can look past the lack of video recording than this phone is definitely worth the money. It is extremely texter friendly. If you loved the Rumor, you will love the Rumor 2.Read full review
I was very happy with the phone right out of the package. The battery came pre-charged, so it was ready to go in under an hour. The fit and finish on the phone are outstanding, very slick like other LG products. The keys on the QWERTY keyboard are very solid and evenly spaced, although small. All of the other keys are very solid as well. The best feature of the phone in my opinion is the web browser. After downloading Opera Mini, you get almost instant access to the web. The phone can be set up for e-mail notifications from Yahoo, MSN, G-mail, AOL and POP3 as well as social networking on Facebook, Myspace and Flickr. Pictures can be uploaded to Facebook and Myspace, but the phone's camera, despite its adequate 1.3 megapixels, does not take great pictures unless you are outside in the daylight. No flash, but there is a 'nighttime mode' on the camera. The only thing I did not like is having to press the menu/OK button 5 times in order to see an incoming text message. Once to get the phone out of standby mode then twice to go from screensaver to main screen, three times to get to the menu page, four to click on 'messages' and then finally a fifth time to see the message preview and then a total of six times to see the whole message and have the 'T' text message icon removed from the top of the screen. That's a lot of presses just to see one incoming message. The media player is adequate although organization of your music can be a little sketchy depending on how your files are labeled. It supports up to a 16gb micro sd card. The headphone jack is a smaller 2.5mm size as opposed to a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. Battery life is severely compromised when the music player is used. The phone comes with only 3 ringtones and 3 text tones, and the speaker on the phone is located on the back, so that when the phone is placed on a flat surface, the ringtones and text notifications are barely audible, even with the volume all the way up. It's a little quirky for my taste, but then most phones from higher end makers are. I used to have the Super Slice by UTStarcom and was very happy with that. Then I lost it and could not find it anywhere. Since I bought the Rumor 2, Virgin Mobile has re-introduced it into their lineup. I only wish I had waited a month and saved myself $100 bucks.Read full review
I bought this phone because I misplaced my other one. It is also the same model # as my other one. The price was very reasonable as the screen had a couple of deep scratches in it but a new one from Sprint was around $150. As Murphy's law would have it, I found my missing phone before the replacement one arrived. At least I now have an inexpensive back up phone I could activate if I lost my other one again. As far as the phone goes I just use it for calling, texting, taking pics and voice mail. This phone has other features but I have yet to learn them. It's an excellent phone for my needs.
For an older tech phone, the Rumor 2 is an OK phone. The family has been using the mil grade Kyocera phones for a couple of years and my wife has started texting a lot more than she used to so the physical keyboard seemed logical. The camera is better than the Kyocera Dura series phones. The keyboard is handy. We're used to flip phones and find unlocking a phone to shut off an alarm annoying but it is what it is. For my use in a noisy environment, the Rumor 2 is too polite. The ringer and volume isn't loud enough to get my attention. In an office or home environment it would be fine. The music quality is good, buttons are usable but a little small.
ok i had the original rumor upgraded to the rumor2 big difference still tryin to get used to it i like the extra row of numbers and the better camera i dont like that it has no video record the textings a bit diif with ur whole conversation in one place but im getting used to it love the blue in the phone i love that i can actually bluetooth files instead of just contacts and calendar overall its a great phone the charge port is very much improved as long as u dont use a back cover u can hear it just fine missed 3 calls while it was in my pocket and the volume was all the way up on 8 but i love the phone anyways nothins perfect took the cover off now its loud loud
