This unit is very portable and cools very effectively. The unit isn't whisper quiet but its not obnoxiously loud either. Definitely would recommend!

The unit does a lot of things well, most importantly it moves air & cools the room. It has a couple weak points you should be aware of: 1) The exhaust hose is not truly "flexible". While it does have embedded rings that allow it to be positioned a short distance from the window, once the position is chosen it is difficult to move the unit around without putting a lot of stress on both the hose's junctions (with the window & with the unit). The stress it bad enough that my unit's hose pulled off the unit (twice) and made me duct-tape it together! Meanwhile the end under the window can move so far that it breaks the seal between the mounting plate & the window, letting in hot air. 2) Number one wouldn't be a deal-breaker except that the unit's condensate must be dumped on occasion, and the best way to do that might be to wheel it over to a handy spot & just open the petcock. With the problems with the hose though you need to figure out something different, which might include a special pan to first drain into. 3) And you can forget moving the unit between windows!!! If they are different widths then the mounting plate will need to be adjusted, but oh, I forgot, the insulation used has a sticky side to it, and this effectively eliminates all adjustment for the mounting plate! My summary: don't buy this unless you have other options OR have only one location you care to cool. Sherwood74 on Ebay.Read full review

This was a good value. I bought it to cool a very warm attic bedroom without using my home's central AC. It does the job a bit slower than I imagined or hoped but it's a large room with a loft ceiling and the sun beating down on the roof so maybe I had unfair expectations. It does the job. The window vent is a bit plastic and badly designed. You'll have to use your imagination, engineering degree, and creativity to get it to make a good seal and not look too horrible on your window. Mine are large double hung vinyl and it didn't really match up well. Certainly it beats a window unit hanging precariously over my deck. It's a very heavy unit so you may need help unloading it or placing it within your home. When it's on the motor is very noisy. Not sure I could sleep with it running -- even on low. I'm glad I got it and at such a good price. I'm now able to cool the room down after sunset and get it quite comfortable by bedtime. I then turn R2D2 off and sleep comfortably in a cool room without humidity. I think I will save money in the long run not cooling the whole house and turning the unit off over night. I'm not a big fan of air conditioning but this has been great on some of the very hot nights in Chicago.Read full review
The product reviews I read before buying were mixed. I found it works very well. My biggest concern was if it would condense and require emptying the reservoir. Not even during the hottest July on record. It could use a longer cord in order to put it into the corner I wanted. The instructions say do not use an extension cord, so it is just sitting in the middle of the room. That part I don't like, but the plug and the window are on different walls.as far as cooling power, very good!
Gets the room cool and keeps it cool. The only down side is that is a little loud and the blower won't stop spinning when it reaches the desired temperature as other do, it keeps on blowing until the temp raises when you can ehar the compressor kicks in again. Other than that is strong, feels well-made and super easy to use, no water to drop. Nice unit overall.
