The main reason I bought this little phone is the 300 minutes that are included with the package. I think most retailers sell this item at around 30 bucks or so excluding tax. So you basically get 300 minutes at a cost of about 10cents per minute and a free phone, which is a good deal for a prepaid. The sound quality is excellent for such a little device. And people on the other end generally say I come in loud and clear. The functions are all pretty self-explanatory and easy to use. The font size on the screen is a bit small so you might have to put on your readers to avoid eye strain. Also the keypad is very compact so it takes some getting used to. No camera.....no internet....no bluetooth.....it's a phone. All in all, not a bad deal if you just need to make and receive calls.
What a 'buy'! The Net10 service seems to be working out just fine (did get a non-connect warning "For Emergency Use Only" in a few outlying areas). ??? The LG300 is a nice little phone. And I do mean "little". Dinky, in fact. A "micro"phone. Being only 4" long and light, I have to pat myself down to see if I'm carrying it! And I feel as if I have to move it from ear to mouth when using (not necessary). Nice concave 'click'ing buttons. Not crazy about menu navigating. One 'bad' is that the item on the menu is outlined in.....dark blue (can't read the damn thing!). So you have to do an up-and-back to see what menu item you're on! Stand-by time seems superlative. N.B.: upon activation the SIM card is permanently usable in only THAT phone. No other. I called tech support and after asking the Asian person to slow down and enunciate about a dozen times, I gave up and ended the call (I had asked for a person whose "native language is English" but the techie ignored/probably no such person within a thousand miles). I beleive if I get another such 'deal' on eBay with a nice, big clam-shell phone that the minutes and number can be rolled-over into the new one. You CAN'T BEAT this guy's deal! Phone and two chargers, case (magnetic clasp is nice!) and the stupid ear buds all came quickly and for less than the talk-time would cost!!! I believe I even saw a phone card (Dollar Gen?) for $10 for 100 minutes. Not like the $10 T-mob card I got at a 'Target' that netted me 30 MINUTES! (it doesn't say this anywhere on the package!)(this was one of the reasons I switched)(another being a warning email from T-mob that my service term was about to expire a week AFTER my service expired, thus losing 5.5 hours of talk-time).Read full review
In this age where Bluetooth, WiFi, touchscreen, mp3/video players, FM radio, GPS navigation, PDAs, memory expansion slots, voice recognition, web browsers, digital cameras, polyphonic ringtones, etc. are being incorporated into mobile phones, the LG 300 is a severely stripped-down phone that doesn't have ANY of the aforementioned features. It's just a bare-bones, no-frills phone that's reminiscent of the mobile phones in the 90's. Not surprisingly, then, the LG 300 is nothing to write home about. But I will say this -- the LG 300 is sleek and one of the most compact and lightweight mobile phones I've seen. The battery life on standby time is about 4 days. I can't speak to its battery life on talk time because I've never had a long enough phone conversation to determine it. It uses a lithium ion battery so there won't be a problem with "memory effect." If you need a basic cell phone for making an occasional call or for emergencies, this compact phone is a good deal and Net10 is a good service to go with: Free Phone ---------- For starters, for 30 bucks you get this phone PLUS 300 minutes. Since Net10 sells add-on 300 minutes in airtime for 30 bucks, you're in effect getting this phone for free. Cheap Rates ----------- At 10 cents per minute for local or long distance calls, the Net10 phone service is simply the best deal. Text messages cost only 5 cents to send or receive. No Hidden Charges ----------------- No wireless contracts or penalties for early cancellation. No roaming charges. 10 cents per minutes, plain and simple. Rollover minutes ---------------- If you buy more minutes before your old minutes expire, your old minutes will roll over and expire the same time as your new minutes. Minutes will keep rolling over for as long as add more minutes before your current minutes expire. The airtime available for purchase come in 150, 300, and 180 minutes: cost in dollars/airtime in minutes/expiration in days 15/150/30 30/300/60 180/1800/60 3 Convenient Ways To Add Minutes -------------------------------- You can add minutes by: 1) buying Net10 phone cards 2) buying airtime through the Net10 Website 3) buying airtime directly from the LG 300 phone. To buy airtime directly from the phone, you are required to set up a PIN at the Net10 Website. You will be asked for this PIN whenever you add airtime through your phone. Decent Coverage --------------- Net10 reportedly uses both AT&T (formerly Cingular) and T-Mobile networks. Most of the time, I have no problems with coverage in my area, although I do get dropped calls every now and then. Customer Service ---------------- Net10 could definitely use some work on their customer service. I had to call customer service on at least a couple of occasions for (1) minutes failing to appear on my phone after I've purchased airtime and (2) problem transferring my phone number from an old phone to a new phone. It took about half an hour for them to credit me for my minutes and almost an hour to get my number transferred to my new phone. Part of the problem is _communication_ with the operators. It was a little frustrating getting them to *listen* and *understand* the issues I was trying to explain to them. But I will say that at the very least their operators are courteous. If you can get past their customer service - well - Net10 offers very competitive rates. Hopefully you won't have to deal with their tech support, ever. Many of the support you need is automated on the Web.Read full review
Decent phone for its price! Great phone to make calls... Don't expect nothing major from this phone... It does not have camera, its display is not huge, but it has its good points too! Lightweight, great battery life, cute but resistant phone! Net10 is a good provider, with cheap calls and text messages... I bought this phone for my girlfriend, so that we could stay in touch easily... I would definitely recommend it to a friend!
NET10 Customer Service is often difficult to understand problems which might arise when activating these cell phones. It is not uncommon for the refurbished cell phones not to have been completely cleared when be refurbished. This sometimes results in the cell phone you just purchased having the previous activation and/or SIM card still being registered. You then may have an extremely difficult time in getthing the NET10 representative you talk to understand this problem. Many cell phone users typically pay for more minutes than they actually use. Both NET10 and Touch Tone offer affordable cell phone plans whereby caller only pay for the minutes they actually use. The LG 300 is a good cell phone and NET10 offers an affordable rate for the caller who typically uses less than 150 minutes or less per month. NET10 is a straightforward pay as you go cell phone service with US nationwide coverage. NET10 has no contracts, confusing terms, stipulations, hidden fees, small print or surcharges - plus no daily charges or monthly bills. NET10 offers a flat rate of 10 cents per minute, with local, long distance and roaming included. NET10 International Long Distance allows you to make calls to over 60 international destinations from your NET10 phone in the U.S., at a cost of a regular call (10 cents) plus 5 cents per minute. NET10 International Neighbors also allows you to obtain AT NO CHARGE three Mexican or Canadian phone numbers, which your family and friends (in those countries) can dial, and you will receive those calls directly at your NET10 phone in the United States. With NET10 International Neighbors your family and friends in Mexico or Canada won’t pay international long distance charges, and you will pay just a regular call. (In order to obtain your FREE NET10 International Neighbors numbers you must first register FREE to NET10 International Long Distance service, so that you can make and/or receive international long distance calls.) I would recommend the LG 300 and NET10 services for any caller using less than 150 minutes per month. I would, however, recommend the LG 4500 Cell Phone through Touch Tone for $9.95 per month plus $.05 per minutes as a more ecomomical rate for any caller who uses between 200 - 800 minutes per month. Touch Tone also has no contracts, confusing terms, stipulations, hidden fees, small print or surcharges. Touch Tone does have a monthly fee of $9.95 and only requires its customers to have a bank issued credit or debit card. Each caller should analyze their monthly cell phone usage and choose the plan most suited for their needs. Regardless, why pay for more minutes than you actually use when both NET10 and Touch Tone offer affordable cell phone plans whereby caller only pay for the minutes they actually use.Read full review
