I bought the Leupold CQ/T scope to outfit a rifle for 3-gun competitions. I wanted a variable power scope that would accomodate the varying target distances in these matches. I have other Leupold optics & have been happy with their performance. The CQ/T is a rugged scope with rail attachments for auxillary gear. It has a cirle/dot reticle for fast target acquisition and offers variable brightness settings. In my opinion the Leupold Mark 4 CQ/T has a well-planned design & features that make sense for my application -- I love this scope.
Second one I've purchased. There are three models now. Simply put, a yellow reticule, a red reticule and a newer range finding red model. For normal use (non-military applications) the yellow or oldest model is fine and the brightest of the three. The red circle reticule works better with all night vision currently available. The newest reticule is red and has better range finding applications but more expensive and not really necessary for medium range (out to 300 meters) engagements. Overall, a very rugged sight with quite a bit of versatility. What I don't like is the fact that you have to buy an aftermarket mounting base for quick detachment and redeployment purposes as a quick release and returnable to zero mount. Leupold's model is made by A.R.M.S. and is identical to their model without the Leupold markings. LaRue makes a model also but is more expensive. For the retail price of a new scope, the QD mount should be included by Leupold. Takes a common and inexpensive AA battery for operation and still works (black reticule) if the power is depleted. Overall, a very versatile sight that has held up well in combat. To follow up on this review, I've used two of these now for some time. One on a Sig 556 and the other on a Rock River Coyote Carbine that has been customized for Law Enforcement, Mid-range Sniper and my particular needs. Both have held up as expected of a Leupold Mark 4 optic's reputation. No problems what so ever and still going strong. Additionally, a few years ago I sent one one of these scopes with a Quick Detach Mount to a relative who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan. He used it exclusively on his combat weapons instead of the EoTech and ACOG's others had and was glad he did. It did double duty as a close range and a long range sight that the others couldn't do without additional equipment. He was able to engage hostiles at a much longer distance with far more accuracy than the other members of his squad with a simple twist of the eyepiece/power adjustment. Best of all, it does not and did not suffer from the shifting zero problems from temperature changes that the EoTech suffers from. It may now look like it has been through hell and combat but it still functions perfectly (still in use) and is still crystal clear and bright. He said he will never be without it and will keep it as a reminder of his service long after he gets too old one day to use it.Read full review
An older, but high quality, military use scope designed for quick target acquisition. It is intended for short to medium ranges and has an illuminated aiming point that can be selected to have red or green illumination for daytime or nighttime use while still being visible for daytime use with or without illumination. It uses a single AA battery for power. I am sorry to hear they are no longer being manufactured.

A great scope, and the box is made for the quick mount to attach to the scope so buy that too. The movement for the variable distance is slightly difficult to twist and perhaps just takes a few weeks of constantly moving it to loosen up. I don't know what else I would attach to the rails but this scope is going onto my POF 308. Should be a great optic, still waiting on my gun though.
Great Scope for AR15/M4 Style Rifles
