The reason why I purchased this camera is it's incredible beauty - certainly the most beautiful of all Leica cameras ever produced. It has a unique look, is small, lightweight, reliable - much more than modern plastic cameras. Production of IIIf RD ST Leicas ceased in 1956 with serial # 825 000. With it's serial # 823 729 this one is of the very last batch of production. I doubt I could find a later one! Besides it's beauty, this camera actually takes great pictures! I'm using it frequently. At the very beginning the slow speeds were a little bit stiff. The camera certainly was not used for a long time. I gave it a little of exercise and after 15' or so the shutter - even the slow speeds - worked perfectly. Shutter curtains are like new despite their age, finder is bright, rangefinder accurate. And cosmetically it is like new. This camera is not only a collector's item (I'm NOT a collector), it's a perfect camera for taking pictures. I'm using it with 2 lenses (35 and 50) and appropriate finders. It's a joy to use it! Since the purchase I made several hundred of pictures with it. I enlarge them up to 12 x 16 (inch). It's incredible how a 60 years old camera can still deliver such pictures!Read full review

I used a IIIf for many years, and then finally gave in and switched to digital cameras. I have now switched back. I use only wide angle lenses (a 35 and a 28) and want my camera to be ready to shoot immediately. The only digital camera I know of that can do this is a Leica, and I cannot afford them, so I bought this camera. If you know how to expose film, need a focusing and depth of field scale you can see all the time, as well as shutter speeds and you want to work quickly, this is the perfect camera. If not, the above probably won't mean anything to you.

Got this little gem recently from Japan and what a lovely picture it takes with fully working mechanism Considering it’s age and a pleasure to own . Most definitely recommend the Japanese.. well looked after their cameras and the duty paid didn’t break the bank ... So give a mind to cameras 📷 from Japan .

As advertised and I ran a roll of film through it with great results.
