Caught it by accident back in 2007 and was instantly hooked, waited eagerly for a new episode every week. Have been rewatching the show every couple of years on youtube but figured why not buy the dvd sets. This first season is great with some nice extra features and commentary. highly recommended.

I watched Kyle XY when it originally aired on broadcast tv. While watching this story line, the writer's really could have had something great and entertaining. Now I can only say that don't be fooled that it is for the entire family. Too many sexual situations for teens is the main focus on just about every show. I would have to give it a mature adult rating. Not really worth the time to continue watching the other following seasons unless you want to see the ending for Kyle as the series left it.

... where we saw Matt Dallas (Kyle XY) in person on a few programs. (The SDCC stands for San Diego Comic Con). Tina (my wife) and I decided to give this show a chance, and have received the first disc so far of the Set from our Video Service. After viewing the first disc, Tina stated that I seemed to be more interested in continuing with the series than she did. She was more interested in following up with the other TV show we discovered at the Comic Con, EUReKA, which I agreed was a better show than this one. Kyle XY just didn't move fast enough for her or me, but the actor Matt Dallas is darn good in the role of Kyle. The other actors are fine too, so it must be that the epsiodes just don't move fast enough. Maybe that is why so many others in attendance at the SDCC programs were not watching this show, but other shows that TV Guide were showcasing at the same programs or following programs at the Con. I for one want to continue watching the show, it does have a 'hook', but for a mainstream audience to continue watching, it needs to move a little faster! MichaelRead full review
I must admit I love television. And i fell hook line and sinker for the above Muze review that instantly compared Kyle XY to Smallville and Roswell; I had to order Kyle XY instantly. While neither Smallville nor Roswell are perfect shows (memory loss much?), it must be said that an episode of Alf holds more emotional depth than does Kyle XY. Living in Australia this show did not cross my radar until its DVD release. After viewing this box set I am surprised to discover that Kyle XY has a primetime slot and isn't on after Power Rangers on a Saturday morning. It's not one thing that lets Kyle XY down, it's everything. Matt Dallas, as lead character Kyle, channels a wooden foreign exchange student each episode. He however manages to rise above a very mediocre cast that play one dimensional characters. Think poor Kristen Bell in Veronica Mars, only worse. Most of the teenage characters are sexually active; their discussions of sex are cynical, forced, and disturbing to watch. I must admit I myself am a teenager, however I would sooner allow my child to watch Dawson's Creek than hear phrases such as 'too bad that choir girl can't make him sing like I do'. The plot itself lends much to Dark Angel. Unfortunately the action and story are as slow as molasses; the story arc is far more suited to two or three episodes, not ten. The production quality could be better. This may be something that is improved next season, when budget isn't as huge a challenge. The set dressing makes the family's house look like it was furnished just yesterday. The atmosphere is not a loving family home, but a display house. If this box set has one redeeming quality it is the special features. There is an audio commentary, behind the scenes look at season two, an alternate full-length pilot plus an extended season finale. Bottom line, Kyle XY is a small cable network show. It is still finding its voice and from what I have seen has the potential to be a hit show to look out for...if every actor on the CW drops dead. If you are morning the loss of your favourite show, and looking for something to fill the void left by Roswell, The OC or Veronica Mars than do give Kyle XY a try, just don't have your expectations too high.Read full review
A boy found in the woods. Where did he come from? Every episode is a piece of the puzzle. Very intriguing. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. You'll be hooked. If you love science fiction you'll love Kyle XY. I bought it so that when it eventually goes off the air, I can still watch it. I can share it with people who have never seen especially the future generation. It's got a cast that just works and goes together so well. I just hate that the seasons are so short and I have to wait months for more. It is that good. And as the main character narrates you grow a bond with him and take the journey together. Great concept, great show. Must have.
