I've had several of these PC3 series boards from Kurzweil including their 61 and 76 note versions. These are sturdy, well-built keyboards with so many features and controls that you'll never get to the end of the road as far as doing everything possible on this board. The "V.A.S.T" architecture that creates the basis for this board's inner workings is unparalleled in this industry. The Fatar keybed in the 76 note version is a superb blend of piano and organ type keys, consequently allowing the professional to enjoy a bit of each on a single board. The 61 note keybed however is strictly synthesizer type and is relatively unrealistic when playing an acoustic piano sound. However the hardware's the same on both models--extremely powerful and versatile. I would recommend the PC3 over the Nord Electro any day of the week. The prices are similar (although I believe the Kurzweil is a bit less expensive), and Kurzweil's tech support is unequaled in this industry.Read full review

Awesome keyboard. Great feel, keys have the feel of real piano keys. I’m a composer and what I was looking for was the most bang for the buck on GREAT orchestral sounds, and piano sounds. It certainly delivered, but the bonus of great Hammond sounds as well as voices (human), drums, bass. I was really happy with the synth sounds, a real bonus as I was going to purchase a synth with piano sounds. The only thing I wasn’t impressed with was the guitar sounds (acoustic), the nylon string sound wasn’t! It has amazing programming capabilities with VAST. I’ll have something to play with on those snow days here in San Diego ;-) I have read the reviews from the professional keyboardist out there and what they would want. But if you want an all round keyboard with the MOST variety of realistic sounds that will give you GREAT recordable and usable sounds, this board is for you. The sounds are usable straight away. I don’t know if I will ever need to play with VAST. It is also a nice looking unit that you can leave in your living space. The only other con is the weight, but that’s why there are roadies.Read full review
Many keyboardists haul two keyboards to their gigs because they don't have an instrument that covers all sounds well or because split/layer functions are limited. The PC3K8 covers all sounds very well and has 16 way splits/layers. One of the more difficult sounds to produce on a workstation is a realistic Hammond B3 organ sound. Kurzweil's representation of this sound is excellent and comes with a full set of drawbars and percussion switch. Fast/slow Leslie can be triggered with the sustain pedal. You can load samples, use the Yamaha breath controller, use over 1000 set-ups, and the list of bells and whistles goes on and on. This is the only keyboard I need to do any gig.
