I bought the Kodak EASYSHARE Z8612 IS 8.1 Megapixel Digital Camera because I liked its: ergonomic design; quality Schneider Kruzenmach 36mm-432mm Lens; extra features and overall flexibility. eBay's price range for this camera was attractive and fitted well within my budget. The Z8612's feature set covers everything the average user needs to take clear, consistently good, photos with minimal effort. I am pleased with this camera's functionality. It's easy to use and takes what I consider to be excellent pictures. Kodak has produced a very good digital camera with the Kodak EASYSHARE Z8612 IS 8.1 Megapixel product; its price/performance package exceeded my expectations. This eBay purchase was a good deal for me!
This camera has been simple to use and produced great results in a variety of different lighting conditions and subjects. The manual is very simple and only provides as much info as needed to get up and running while touching on some of the broader features available. For a deeper camera experience, the included software advises you to register for hints and help through the Kodak webiste. This camera was purchased for it's high megapixel count to price ratio and the powerful zoom (12x optical and 5x digital) and it does not dissapoint. It has the ability to use a (sold separately) Kodak branded 1.2x telephoto zoom lens and the ability to use other generic accessories that are 55mm connection compatible. We took over 250 photos on vacation with the standard non-rechargable Kodak battery pack that came with our camera combo kit and it hasn't run out of juice yet. We showed no mercy with the power on/off cycles trying to test it, so we may invest in the rechargable battery pack if we use it more, but so far the Kodak branded non-rechargable battery pack seems to be working beyond our inital expectations. Recovery time is good, we experienced about a 3 second delay in between shots, and for action shots it has a multiple frame mode that takes 4 frames at a time and allows you to select the best group for your action shot. The panoramic setting automatially stitched together a few shots I took and did it very well. Overall I highly recommed this camera for an inexpensive entry level camera for people who may not know alot about photography but will want to learn more as they become more comfortable.Read full review
This is one of the nicest Digital Camera's available. With it's 12X optical zoom and 4X digital you can get pictures you thought were impossible before. And, with image stabilization, it is undoubtedly one of the best cameras you'll find at this price. Using a 4GB SD memory card you can get over 1500 pictures at the 8MP setting. That's over 62 rolls of 24 exposure for a 35mm camera. I use a thumb drive to transfer the pictures from the SD memory card to my computer. It plugs into the USB port of my computer and is much easier than using the cable supplied with the camera. The only blured pictures I get is ones I take in very low light conditions without a flash and that's mostly my problem. The camera can take pictures in low light conditions but like any camera you need to hold it steady because of the longer exposure time to compensate for the low light conditions. If you're looking for a great digital camera, the Kodak Z812-IS is one of the best.Read full review
Back in Feb of 08' I purchased the Kodak Z812 digital camera coupled to Kodak's G600 printer dock.I have been pleased beyond my wildest expectations. They are both set up to be up and running in a very short time. I was taking great photos immediately and the printer is a pure joy to use. The camera was bought after an intensive period of shopping and comparing and was needed because of it's high telephoto capabilities, namely 12X. The features are easy to use and there is even a help menu built right into the camera. The clarity and brightness of the LED screen is fantastic but there is also a lighted viewfinder that supplements this quite well. The small compact size was also another factor that figured into my choice.Fits in the palm of the hand. After having owed several other digital cameras of varies makes this has easily become my favorite and will be used extensively to persue my hobby of nature photography. From super detailed macro photos to the ultra sharp high zooms made better by the always active image stabilization one could not ask for anything more. As for the G600 printer dock I am in love with it.From it's very small compact size,to the ease of use,to the quality prints it delivers this is a definate keeper. After some shopping on line a bit for the cartridge and paper I can print all the photos I choose for a mere 15 1/2 cents apiece and it will do it all day without even monitoring.A great feature is that it also recharges the camera's batteries so they are always ready to go.A big help for sure. The only complaint I have with the entire set-up is maybe their software. I find it to be slow and clumsy probably due to the fact that it fights the several other photo programs I have installed on my computer already. I am finding ways of working around this and I beleive if it is the only one installed you would be very happy with it. Now for the best part.............The Kodak website and support tech. team are unbelievable.I have e-mailed them with several questions and they have responded quickly and intelligently and have answered all of my questions. You can also download the expanded owner's manuals for both units there for free. They are truly a class act. In conclusion I would give this camera and printer my highest reccomendation and would purchase another in a heartbeat. Happy picture taking!!!! GPMRead full review
This is a great camera! I own an older 5.1 Megapixel Kodak Easyshare and love how it operates. So when this newer style showed up for auction, I knew I had to get one. Most of the features are the same as the older model, but have been updated to better serve the picture taker. Plus there area few added bonuses to this style. You have the option of editing your photo immediately after your shot, but cropping and fixing exposure. Very cool. And there are additional pre-set settings for different types of lighting for better picture taking. Kodak added more slip-proof rubber on the sides for easier gripping, and made the camera AA battery friendly, so no more special camera batteries. Overall, this is a digital camera for the avid picture taker that wants some control over their creations, but doesn't want to hassle with setting exposures and f-stops on every shot. An automatic camera easy enough for the novice, and plenty of options and settings useful for the more advanced photographer. On a personal note; My daughter and I used the older pre-mentioned model for many years and entered various catagories in the county fair. She and I both have won numerous awards for our works of art. So now with the newer model with higher pixels, we anticipate winning tons more!!!Read full review
