I have owned Mini Maglites since they became available. I have one with me almost all the time. They are rugged and reliable They have a great factory warranty. The spare bulb and being able to use it as a candle are nice features. The weak spot is the rotating, on/off, beam focusing switch. It will wear out. Lubrication, as per instructions, will make it last longer.

I bought the Maglite based on its reputation for being well-made. for now, the flashlight seems to live up to its reputation in this regard but seems inadequate in others. First, it is, compared to smaller, LED flashlights, heavy and bulky (despite being smaller than standard flashlights). Secondly, it does not seem very bright. I have owned small, cheap LED lights that were brighter. This flashlight seems tough and durable but I would not buy another one. EDIT -- When the first set of batteries were going bad (evidenced by the light growing dimmer) I had extreme difficulty getting the old batteries out even though there was no corrosion. In working with tools (as carefully as I could) to get the batteries out I disfigured the connection between the endcap and the body, such that the endcap no longer pressed on the batteries. I fixed this with some aluminum foil between the endcap and the batteries, but I will never again buy this overpriced and overhyped product. Read full review

This is an ideal light for emergency use. It's small enough and bright enough to get you around. It came with 2AA batteries and a holder. I have two others and one goes with me on trips.

It is a good light with the LED conversion on it. Had some issues with dependability with the end cap switch so I use the Maglight one and it works fine.

There are a few things that you really depend on in all sorts of situations that can get you by in the time of need and a flashlight can be of great value in emergency roadside or at home in the backyard on dark nights when you really need to see where you place your feet or what the dog is barking at and I have tried all makes of other flashlights with disappointment making an appearance on a regular basis until I coughed up the extra dough and bought a maglite and I haven't been disappointed since. As with all battery operated devices periodically check and replace batteries as needed and there is even a spare bulb in the end cap which I replace when used for a dependable light when it is needed. you can depend on Maglites from dusk to dawn and all points in between.
