I bought this slow cooker after watching an Equipment Review about this on America's Test Kitchen. This slow cooker was their winner because of even heating, easy to use and see digital display and buttons, and wider handles on the ceramic insert. Wider handles make it easier to hold. Well, boy were they right! I love this slow cooker! I used to think when my cooking didn't turn out in past slow cookers, that I was the one that messed up. Not as much of that anymore! A lot of my messes were not so much me as the cooker! I have used this slow cooker about 6 times since I got it, and each meal has been excellent! Having great recipes from ATK helps enormously. 😀 I LOVE this slow cooker!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought this for 2 reasons: firstly, because I have many KitchenAid products and have always been happy; secondly, because it was recommended by America’s Test Kitchen as their top slow cooker. I have a cheap $20 one that I’ve had for years with no issues at all, but wanted to upgrade to something nicer And better looking. While the KitchenAid slow cooker looks really nice, it just does not get the job done. I put a beef roast along with some vegetables in it on low for 8 hours. After 8 hours it was not even close to being finished. This is a meal I’ve made dozens of times in my cheap slow cooker and never had this issue. A couple weeks later I decided to give the slow cooker another shot and put a pot of beans on. Same issue, not cooked through. Hard beans are no bueno! I’ve gone back to using my cheap machine and the KitchenAid now lives in the back of the pantry, likely permanently. Save your money and stay away from this product and buy a low-cost slow cooker to get the job done. Read full review

The best thing about this KitchenAid Slow Cooker is the fact it is totally easy to use. You don't have to have a degree in engineering to figure out how to set the cook time, etc. Power on, select time and then select low, med or high cooking temp. Done! OH, and once the cooking time is done it automatically switches to the "warm" mode...unless you power the unit off. In closing, I must mention is the fact the heating elements are totally unique to this Kitchen Aid Slow Cooker. If you would like more information on this please Google it.

The slow cooker arrived in good shape and I have not used it as I have had in the past. I previously prepared food in my old slow cooker in advance of the day I wanted to cook it; however, the large number of individuals reporting cracked crocks has made be hesitant to put in in the refrigerator at all! It is very easy to use and I like the ability to specifically program it in 30 minute increments. It is a large (and heavy) crock to handle especially when attempting to wash it and it gets slippery.

After having a slow cooker with no real "simmer" feature, this is so nice. It actually has a low and keep warm that work.
