Key Largo (1948) has an outstanding cast, including the original gangster himself, Edward G. Robinson, Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall in their final film together, the great Lionel Barrymore, and Claire Trevor in an Oscar-winning supporting role. The story was first a play, and you can tell that by the construction of the plot, but it is nevertheless exciting, intense, and entertaining. Bogie plays an ex-G.I. who travels to a hotel in Key Largo to visit the wife and father of his deceased soldier buddy. He arrives to find a strange party occupying the establishment. They are soon revealed to be gangsters waiting for their loot, and Robinson is their leader. Trevor plays the abused, alcoholic singer who has attached herself to him. A hurricane traps everyone in the hotel, and the drama escalates as Bogie strives to protect Bacall and Barrymore from Robinson and his goons. Key Largo is a thoroughly enjoyable film, and it is very fun to see two great actors from that genre, Robinson and Bogart, match wits and guns.Read full review
One of several classic Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Becall movies also has a great supporting cast including Edward G. Robinson and Lionel Barrymore and the usual cast of the era bit actors. Bogart plays a WWII vet who is paying a visit to a fallen comrade's family home which is also a hotel in Key Largo. Already present and "renting" the hotel Edward G. Robinson's gangster character(Johnny Rocko) is awaiting another gangster to show up and complete a deal. Tension brews as a hurricane is moving in to the area and Robinson's character is brutal and overbearing especially to his alcoholic ex. It's a great film, maybe not as good as Casablanca or To Have and Have Not but the latter is buoyed by some humor, Becall's performance and charm - which she does not display (humor) as much in this one.(She's totally serious in this one) Robinson even adds some depth to his gangster character.Read full review

Always enjoyed this movie! What a great cast. Couldn't wait to get home to watch it, the day it arrived. Even though it had been several years since I had seen it, it was every bit as awesome as I had remembered.
