While Tony wrote about a number of important railroading operational scenarios he neglected depictions of problems faced by dispatchers. I so wanted to see shunting diagrams with detailed instructions on how these freight trains should be assembled. No diagrams were presented. Instead I am pushed into looking through the internet for shunting problem diagrams presented as a problem solver. Which is what I was so looking for in Mr. Koester's book in the first place.

This is the definitive guide that all scale railroaders need. The only book better was by John Armstrong and it is out of print. However, Tony Koester was friends with John Armstrong, and they shared the same approach to operation of railroads. Buy this book before starting your build and it will be easier to design your model railroad.
