I previously had this model with the glass carafe so I like the overall features. I wasn't sure I'd like the stainless steel carafe but found I like it very much. The coffee stays hot a very long time. This coffee maker is easy to program and is a bit smaller than most so is a better fit on the counter.

I bought this to replace a week old Hamilton Beach BrewStation. I'm glad I did, but only because the BrewStation was horrible. There are some really good things about this machine, and some not-so-good. The GOOD: 1) It's a nice size, though not as small as the pics led me to believe. But I love that I can open the top, which has a nice smooth motion, and still open my cabinet door to get a filter out. 2) It is well made, like other Krups machines I've had. It doesn't look or feel cheap, even though it is. 3) the controls are very intuitive, easy to learn and use. 4) It has separate programs for weekday and weekend brewing times. 5) it brews coffee at the right temperature; very hot, but not burned. 6) it has a separate brew cycle if you're only making 2-3 cups, and it works. 7) after two weeks use, 2-3 pots per day, the carafe still easily rinses clean. The NOT-SO-GOOD: 1) the most serious deficiency is that the thermal carafe does not keep the coffee warm. I thought I would be able to make 8 cups in the morning and have warm coffee until soon after lunch, but it cools down rather quickly. After an hour, it is warm, not hot. After 2 hours it needs a 45 second nuke. It doesn't help much if you pre-warm the carafe with hot water before hand (as the instructions suggest), and that doesn't work at all if you have the brewing started by program. One reviewer said that the carafe gets heated during brewing, but it does not (except by the hot coffee). 2) the inner liner of the carafe seem to be a cheap grade of stainless. It has perhaps 20 pinhead-sized black marks on it that I first thought were dirt or stuck coffee grounds, but further inspection shows them to be rusted impurities in the stainless steel. 3) the opening of the carafe where you pour out the coffee is very small and you have to turn the pot almost completely upside down to get the last coffee out. This is a minor annoyance that I wouldn't complain about if the thermal carafe actually kept the coffee hot.Read full review

The quality of this product is above average and obvious immediately upon initial inspection. Two coffee strength settings (normal & bold) allow this choice and with good results. The "shower" water feed combined with hotter than usual water temperature result in excellent tasting coffee. I find filling the reservoir with water easy because I always make a full pot especially with the thermal carafe which eliminates "cooking" of coffee that occurs in a glass carafe left "on".. I gauge filling the water reservoir to the overflow opening easily visible if not using the water strainer. If using the strainer it is impossible to see the overflow opening, then the internal water gauge must be used which is difficult to read. I removed the strainer since I purchased and am using the Krups duo filtration system. I find loading the coffee in the cone shaped bin easy to manage. Top door opening allows good access. I recommend using a gold tone filter which eliminates messing with paper filters. Setting the time and programming the coffee maker is easy to set, easy to read. Programming allows for setting the auto-start for two different start times which could be for weekday & weekend times. The only negative I find with this maker is lack of a water level gauge visible on the outside of the maker. This is not a problem for me since I make full pots but may be a problem for someone that normally makes less than a full pot - it may be necessary for measuring the water input to the tank in such a case. For this reason I give a 4 out of 5 star rating but for me it is a solid 5 star coffee maker. It is easy and without mess to pour a cup of coffee in the middle of the brewing process as there is an automatic shut off of flow to the pot when the pot is removed. In summary, I have owned a number of coffee makers and for the past 6+ years using only thermal brewing systems. I believe this is the best quality maker I have ever owned. It cost a little more but having good morning coffee is important to me. I hope & believe it will last for many years of making my daily coffee. At this point I recommend consideration of this Krups Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker.Read full review
This coffee maker brews great coffee. I wish the pot held 12 cups rather than 10. The only issue I have is that the design of the pot makes it difficult to use to pour water into the coffee maker. You have to almost turn the pot upside down to get the last few oz of water out of the pot. I will eventually search for another 48 oz bottle that can fill the unit more easily, but I will have to keep that bottle off the counters and hide it from my wife.
