I never cared for male singers until I heard Groban's version of O Holy Night. I could tell by his voice he was well-trained and completely in control--a professional. This CD/DVD does sport the elusive O HOLY NIGHT and the DVD has many wonderfully sung tunes. My only problem with it was the staging. Too many unnecessary lighting and backdrop gimmicks. Groban can work without this, and judging from the fans' reactions, the flash and glitter didn't mean much to them. His version with Angie Stone of "THE PRAYER" is his most down to earth. Neither rely on pyrotechnics, as their voices are not that compatible. His version of the Spanish ALEJATE is the highlight. Fortunately, it appears on the CD as well. I have listened to it over and over. The show has a more intimate feel than his huge Salt Lake City concert "AWAKE". Groban is a talent who sings what he wants. He is a bit of a throwback to earlier eras, but his voice is so right there and immediate, it really doesn't matter what he sings. But when he finds the right song, there is no stopping him. The quality and sound are superior. The DVD also sports DTS Surround and it is wonderful to listen to in this mode (you must have a music system with a DTS decoder). Terry D. I love this CD! Josh Groban has a wonderful voice, a big part of why I made this purchase. My son takes ballet and I like working with him at home also. It is a great combination of a 'classical' sound and modern feel. This is the perfect music style to practice positions and let him make up his own routines (for our viewing pleasure). The DVD is just a bonus. If ever there's that time when nothing appealing is on TV I know I can just pop it into the player and relax while I'm being serenaded...at home it can be my own personal concert!!
SIMPLY WONDERFUL. What else can I say!?! The CD is really good, with the previously unreleased O Holy Night, which he sings beautifully. But the DVD - it is great! To actually see Josh Groban sing all his debut album's songs, plus more! I loved it! It is really entertaining to watch, not just because of wonderful songs, but he also does a few unexpected things. The DVD also features a "making of the special" part, and backstage footage by his brother. All in all, this is a great CD/DVD combo! I highly reccomend it!
Josh Groban is a geat singer. This DVD/CD combo is a nice combination. The DVD of his concert is almost like being their in person. The selecion of songs really showcase his talent. I bought this set as a replacement of the DVD of a set I had. The DVD started skipping. As the price was right I decided to purchase the set again. Unfortantely this DVD has started skipping too. I don't know if it is a problem with the DVD or I just got another bad one.
A friend and I heard Josh Groban sing O Holy Night on the radio and I wanted to purchase the CD. It is great, as well as the other songs. I played it in my car and at my office many times a day during Christmas. Great product and yes I would purchase it again, should the need arise.
