Aswith most 'albums'of music, one will find some songs that are not as good to listen to as others.Overall, this disc wasmostly enjoyable, with only two songs that I would not have included on this disc.
I BOUGHT THIS BECAUSE I'M IN A BAND AND WE'VE STARTED PLAYING A FEW JOHNNY CASH SONGS. ONLY JUST GOT INTO J. CASH STUFF. SAW THE FILM, THEN FELT LIKE I NEW MORE ABOUT WHERE HE WAS COMING FROM, SO UNDERSTOOD HIS MUSIC MORE. THE DUETS WITH J. CARTER COULD BE GOOD FOR US TO DO. I DON'T LOVE ALL THE SONGS, BUT THERE'S A COUPLE OF GEMS.
Although I don't generally like country music, I think that Johnny Cash was one of the greatest performers of the genre. To me, his music captures some of the essence of popular American culture. On another compilation, I heard his duet with June Carter "If I were a carpenter" and it is now one of my favourites. I was prompted to do some research on the internet on reading the news that the couple's former home had been destroyed by fire, which seemed like a sad ending to their story. On further investigation, I found that Johnny Cash's wife had considerable talent in her own right. This album contains some really nice, melodic and thoughtful songs, and shows how the two of them interacted and brought out the best in each other, both in their music and personal lives.
I love johnny cash and june carters duets as its great to sing along to and really uplifting. I actually bought it for my mums birthday but kind of wished that I'd kept it for myself
