I have been using the Joel Harper's Firming After 50 CD for about 3 weeks and I already notice a difference. It really does firm, and in the right places. It isn't really fun because he uses very boring music that can barely be heard, so i put my own music on in the backround, just any station, like KEarth 101 and it really helps alot in that regard. It keeps me going to the beat better, otherwise i would be too bored to do the exercises since they are pretty darn difficult to do, (but just the right amount), but you have to have better music while doing them. He could also mention in more detail what muscles are being stretched or worked (he does just ok on that) but that is ok since too, because the exercises work and that is the important thing.
I love this DVD because each section has a level that you can choose at any time to participate in. Beginners, moderate, or advanced. I am 53 and don't need to lose weight but I DO need to firm up. So, long drawn out work outs are not what I want because I don't want to burn calories. This works well for me because I can choose which part of the body to focus on, follow the DVD, I'm done in about 20 minutes and I feel like I got a good workout and did exactly what I wanted to do. I sleep better and I have more energy. Thank you Joel Harper!
This is a very good workout for not just people over 50, but anyone who needs to get into shape and have no clue on where to start, or have limitations with disabilities (which I do). Very gentle on the joints, increases mobility, and after doing the first 2 work outs (upper arms and legs), I feel good. Due to my limitations I can't do the floor exercise (which is the 3rd work out) for the abs, which is o.k. because I have a exercise chair that works my abs. Joel works out with 2 other's one being his mom and another lady. All three do 3 different levels of the exercise which is very helpful in how to determine what level you can go on. I did watch the 3rd section (this one has only Joel and another lady working out) for abs and it looks like a very good workout. This would also be a wonderful workout for people who haven't worked out their bodies in a long time. Gives a good cardio workout, you can actually feel the "burn" as you are toning, and one of the most important fact is YOU DON'T NEED ANY EXERCISE EQUIPMENT OTHER THAN THIS DVD TO GET A GREAT WORKOUT! I had seen some of the dvd on tv and liked it,but now I have it at home and using it I feel there are some parts that I can not use. I have problems with one of my knees and can not use it on the floor due to the knee replacement 6 years ago and I still have pain and problems.So I think I totaly have to skip those parts:(.I also found out that some parts of dvd is little too fast for us(older people). But I still like it and will use it with my other dvds.Thanks
