Another Great Recording in Garcia's Exploration of All Music Americana!!! The Team that goes back to the 1975 New-Grass record "Old & In The Way" is a quieter mix than the Dead or JGB...but the musicianship is just as awesome! Released in 1991 on Grisman's own label, "Acoustic Disc" they would team up for one more release before Garcia's untimely death in 1995, the 1993 release "Not For Kids Only". One highlight of "Garcia/Grisman" not usually mentioned is the melancholy "Two Soldiers" an American Civil War-era song about battlefield loss and the effect on the loved ones at home. Garcia's voice cracks slightly giving it a poignancy of the time that brings a tear to the eye...

For those who don't know this is called Dawg music. David Grisman is the father of Dawg music, Jazz played on Bluegrass instruments. Many people don't know that Jerry Garcia was interested in this form of acoustic music. So the blending of their two styles on some Dawg music standards as well as others is amazing. It is extremely well recorded. With the right system they will live in your room.

This is one fantastic album by two fantastic musicians. Jerry Garcia is in truly spectacular form...his acoustic solos and rhythms are extraordinary. I've learned to expect nothing less from this guitar great. And David Grisman is of course all over it...his mandolin jams are precise and right on!!! I recommend this album to Dead Heads and Music Lovers of all genres.
I bought this CD to replace the cassette tape that was wearing out. Some of the songs just get stuck in my head. I find the entire album relaxing.
