I am very pleased with my purchase. Runs very quietly and smoothly. So far I have only hooked it up to make sure it worked and check the stitching but unless something unforeseen should appear(which I do not think will happen) I am very pleased. I am looking forward to spending a great deal of time enjoying the use of the machine. It is not a high dollar machine but it is a good machine. A lot of people think that the more expensive the machine is; the better they will be able to sew but that is a fool's dream. I learned to sew on an old treadle machine (and wish I still had it) and while the new machines can make a lot of pretty designs, they cannot make a seamstress out of someone. Either you can sew or you can't. The designs the machines make cannot teach you to cut and follow a pattern or know how to join the pieces of fabric. You need a knowledgeable seamstress to teach someone how to truly sew. So, while the top line machines are fun; if you really want to sew find someone to teach you before investing in an expensive machine. Good luck!Read full review

This is a good beginner, travel, or second machine. It is lightweight - meaning more plastic instead of metal parts. While that would be a positive trait while lifting for travel, I am concerned it may not hold up as well. The retractable spool pins are fairly fragile and easily broken - metal ones would have definitely been a better choice. It stitches smoothly and has an easy buttonholer. The removable base piece that makes it a "free arm" must be removed in order to access the bobbin (which seems a bit awkward to me), but not difficult.

We received the machine quickly, it was packaged very securely. The machine works great and my daughter (a beginner) was able to start using it right away and loves it. Best money I've spent in a long time.

I really cannot rate the quality and value as I have not had it long enough to know. As a manual machine the setup and usage is much different that the computerized machines I have been using for so many years. I takes me back a way, and I am getting used to turn the hand wheel again! I was able to patch the collar on my husband's favorite leather jacket (at least 30 years old?) I am now practicing on leather cell phone holders and such. I got this to work on leather (my husband's jacket) and so far it has done what I want it to do. I am looking forward to working on denim and slipcovers, which could pose a problem with my computerized machines. It does look like this machine may be my 'go to' machine for the 'power over speed' sewing I like to do. I will give it a month or so and revisit this review.Read full review

I was shopping for a new machine. Went to JoAnne's & saw the various models. Sales girl was helpful but they were pricey. I didn't want an embroidery feature or 100 types of stitches. This machine is perfect. Performs effortlessly & makes wonderful buttonholes & hem stitches for all my basic sewing needs. I highly recommend it, I am now a happy sewer :)!
