This BBC offering of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility is a must have along with Ms. Emma Thompsons version of the work. It provides a remarkable contrast in characters and is a great study of this sort within the British palette of main personality prevelances. If you a fan of this work you really should have this rendition too. We did manage to donate a copy to the Toronto Public Library along with several copies of Emma Thompsons rendition. Perhaps youd like to do the same for your town wherever you may live presently. This is food for the soul. Lovely British programming. Lets have more of it on our screens shall we?
This is, I believe, my favorite adaption of the classic book!!! Tracey Childs portrays Marianne perfectly, and Irene Richard does a very good job portraying Elinore as well, although not quite as good as Marianne. Both are indeed much younger than Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet, which gives the movie a higher level of accuracy. I really appreciate the detail given in this version, and it is the most faithful to the book (although we miss little Margaret). The filming is much different than the more recent Jane Austen movies, but if one who is particular on those things can get past that thought one might think it a very enjoyable version. By the way, this is far better than the oldest bbc version.
Follows the book closely and well acted I love it.
